Claiming the movie has to be a certain way and that it's terrible before it's released, on the other hand, might be considered 'entitled'.

Thats more what I was addressing. Be constructive by all means, but to see so many flat out 'I do not want' statements with very little eloboration is annoying. I think 'I want' and 'I do not want' has become far too common and easy (I know, welcome to the internet). Would be nice to have more 'I would like' with a bit of intelligent reasoning to go with it ...

I would some more information on what other characters of the ME series were doing between games.

A series/ trilogy that follows Archangel on Omega (mind you Mass Effect: Interregnum does this wonderfully)? A story on the First Contact War?

No one is. They own the IP, they can introduce a My Little Pony crossover if they want to, that doesn't mean I have to approve or pay to see it. I'm well within my rights to say an idea is retarded without being "entitled".

Though I suspect a My Little Pony crossover would be better than Mass Effect 3, so I'm actually all for that idea.

Except for Advent Children movies based on video games are never really good. Finding actors that could resemble the characters we like are hard to find and them being good actors adds even more problems. If they do a movie, animated is a safe way to go because all you really need to do is get the voice actors.

I have no problems with it. Yet, at least. It will never compare to the games, of course, but with a good cast and directors it can be entertaining. Either way, I'm going to watch it at the very least.

I am positive there will be people out there who will watch it and even those who might enjoy it and even want one, and that's OK with me. I don't mind at all. I personally won't be watching the movie. I prefer a game over a movie, and will be waiting for Bioware's next Single Player game to come out so that I can enjoy it. I won't count it as canon unless it's related to some other character that's not my Shepard however, for instance if it attempts to contradict what my Shepard did and create a canon like they did with Revan...I will cover my ears going la la la I don't hear you. :)

Why would I "oppose" a movie...?

I'm pretty neutral to it. Mass effect has some good materials for a nice summer blockbuster. If you had the kind of CGI in Prometheus (not the terrible story), and some good writers/director to translate the game into a good script, I can see it as a good action movie.

I can also see it work as a TV Series in HBO as well but, judging by some of the forum responses in the EC endings here, I'm going to say it probably going to drive them into some major nerd rage.

I don't oppose the idea of the movie, I just don't think it's going to work, but we'll see.

This does descrtibe entitlement in a nut shell since you do sound angry.

Animated movies are a tose up just like live action movies and its easier to recover your investment with a live action film.   Btw its not that hard to find people that resemble video game characters and if its necessary then you could just make a cgi character.

There will be rage with anything since nobody has the same tastes.

Disagree with just about everything you said.

First, letting the company know what you'd like to see in a product is not the same as saying 'I do not want' a product. How does anyones ego get big enough for that? Would you post 'I do not want the Hobbit film to be made' on the Warner Bros website and actually expect them not to make it?

People have let what they think they can dictate get way out of control, and its the belief that you can simply say 'do not want' to anything now and someone will obey that is entitlement, not simply expressing views on an idea. Views with some intelligence are fine. You've expanded my original point to include intelligent comments, which was never the case.

You can say an idea is retarded all you like, its when you believe that someone has to act on such a stupid  comment that youre entitled. Who cares if you approve or what you do with your money? Why do people wave around their money as if they're suddenly entitled to hold companies to ransom because they dont get exactly what they want. What if I want the opposite of what you want, do we both wave our money around and cancel each other out?

I didnt buy carrots from Sainsburys last week because I didnt want them but I dont post on their website that I'm not giving them my money.

The problem is, a lot of entitled people are so entitled they have no idea how bad they are. Quite likely you included.

It's obviously a bad idea. Will I watch it? Of course I will, but I doubt I will like it, honestly. For instance, BioWare's favorite is Liara, which will most likely result in Shepard's LI being her. Not everybody even likes her nevermind romances her. Virmire: I don't know anybody that has ever willingly killed Wrex, but say BioWare does kill him imagine the rage.

Also, if they go with the game's all-renegade choices I for one, will be pissed off. Kill the council, kill the Rachni queen, kill Wrex, ect. Whether or not they convince Saren to kill himself or not, or even just what Shepard says is a bad idea. They should never do a ME movie based on Shepard... I don't know what they're thinking doing that. First Contact War, even follow other characters in between games (ie what squaddies and/or Cerberus is doing while Shepard is dead). But they should never do it based off of Shepard.

Paragon Lost, the story of James Vega before ME3, that I can deal with, its something new! But the Mass Effect movie said to be developed by Legendary Pictures upsets me. Here are a few reasons why:

  • Fans already know how the story begins and ends.

The same could be said for any movie mased on anything. Books, comic books, short stories, older movies, etc. This is a nonsensical complaint.

  • Its pointless going to watch Mass Effect in movie form when instead you could just play the game!

It's pointless to watch The Avengers in movie form when you can just read the comics!

  • The plot decisions made by the director (eg, who dies on Virmire, who becomes Shepards LI, and the status of Wrex) have the potential to upset a lot of fans.

Such is the shortcoming of EVERY OTHER ENTERTAINMENT MEDIUM.

  • Content explored in the movie that wasnt explored in game will leave us confused.

What? Why would a movie leave you confused? If it's written coherently and fleshed out in the movie then why would you be confused?

  • The script has the potential to contradict certain in game events.

So does every adaptation of everything! Why are you assuming everything will go wrong then using that as a reason for why everything would go wrong? Your argument is completely invalid.

  • It will take time out of possible game development (I would prefer a game to a film).

In no way is this true. Movie studios make movies. Game studios make games. A movie being made about Mass Effect has no impact on a Mass Effect game being made.

  • Portrayal of either a male of female Commander Shepard could lead to accusations that you favour one over the other.

Again, you're pointing out things that are inherent in EVERY OTHER ENTERTAINMENT MEDIUM.

  • You're not appealing to your target audience (gamers).

Movies have a larger audience.

  • Movies based on games tend to be unsuccesful, it's risky.

When lousy production companies, writers and directors make video game movies, yes they turn out poorly. Comic book movies were done poorly until Blade came along and proved they could be done well.

  • Characters being played by people other than their in game voice actor may annoy some fans.

Several of the VAs look nothing at all like their characters, including Shepard's VAs.

The main reason:

Mass Effect is a game about personalization. There are many choices, there is no *canon* shepard, except for the main plot (Not romances, saving Krogans blah blah blah.) The ME Movie will ruin people's view of ME.

Look at Transformers, a great product. Ruined by the Micheal Bay movies. EA is chipping away at the Mass Effect franchise.

But it wasn't a story about the Space Jockey. The movie doesn't fit established canon and does a poor, hamfisted job of exploring the tones and themes it attempted to explore. It was an exercise in vanity and hubris on the parts of Ridley Scott and Damon Lindelof. The story is nonsensical even as a standalone film, and the only character that gets any sort of development is the ****ing robot. It was a poorly written and directed film that just happened to be beautiful to look at.

How are toys or 80s/90s cartoons ruined by Bay's movies? I know a lot of collectors who love the toys that were made for the movies despite hating the movies themselves. And My enjoyment of the original cartoon and Beast Wars is not impacted by the Bay movies in the slightest.

The irony here is that there's no personalization of Shepard in the novels and comics, which makes your points invalid.

The Transformer movies are great action movies while it sounds like you never watched the cartoons based on how small the plot was and how explosions were everywhere.  Btw it sounds like you missed the point of action movies having action and that neither EA nor Bioware is producing this movie.

Prometheus is about the Engineers while its not about the Space Jockey in Alien.   The irony here is that Ridley Scott creates the cannon especially when that planet wasn't LV-424 and yet the movie backed up that an alien race created the Xenomorphs.  It still seems like you wanted an Alien movie instead of a Space Jockey movie while it sounds like you aren't an Alien fan other then the Xenomorph part.  I guess people will make up excuses when they don't like somwthing for the wrong reasons.

Wrong. Ridley Scott even said after the movie came out that he just didn't bother to check what the planet's number was in Aliens. It was supposed to be the same planet according to him and Lindelof. They just couldn't be assed to do even the slightest bit of research. And even if you ignore the fact that the story leads absolutely nowhere and doesn't fit with Alien, the characters were all poorly written and were constantly acting in contradiction to how they were presented.

I highly doubt this because there are hundreds of planets infested with different types of Xenomorphs including that research planet.  The planet in Alien/Aliens isn't the same planet in Promethetus based on the planet difference and where/ how the Space Jockey died in the cockpit chairf in Alien/Aliens .  The writing quality in Prometheus was actually better then Alien and the characters were also more fleshed out compared to Alien.  Btw it sounds like you're the one contradicting here especially when the second Prometheus will be the link you're looking for.

P. S. we should be staying on topic.

I wouldn't mind a film starring the male version of Shepard being made, but I doubt I would go and see it. Just personally not interested - like some of you might lose interest in the Tomb Raider games/movies if they suddenly replaced Lara Croft with a dude or something. In my little universe Commander Shepard is a woman, and I don't want nobody rainin' on my parade! :)

Hundreds of planets? You're basing that on what? I don't recall them ever saying that in Prometheus or any other Alien film.
This was supposed to be the prequel to Alien. A sequel to Prometheus wasn't and isn't a sure thing, just an idea Scott had. And are you really going to say that Noomi Rapace's character was as fleshed out and well written as Ripley? You would hard pressed to find ANYONE who agrees with you on that.
The planet in Prometheus IS supposed to the planet in Alien according to Scott and Lindelof. Preometheus is supposed to be the prequel to Alien. It was billed as the answer to the question of who created the xenomorphs and who created us. It gave no indication as to why the xenomorphs were made(they hate us? what?) and no indication as to how the Engineers made humans. Some different kind of Engineer drank some goo similar to the xenomorph goo and fell into some water? How does that make anything? Was that even Earth? If so why did it look like primordial Earth, which predates humanity by billions of years?
The movie poses many questions(in a fumbling fashion) and answers none. That's a poor movie.

It seems like you haven't focused on the Expanded Universe in comics and novels.  You're looking for a different Alien movie based on how the original story for Prometheus was about the Engineers not how it became about the humans landing on an Engineer research planet.  A sequel for Prometheus was announced a month before Prometheus's theartrical release.  It seems lke you need to chill based on how we're not given all the answers on purpose and you getting angry doesn't make it into a bad movie.

All I see is someone overreacting since Prometheus wasn't focused on the Xenomorphs.  Btw we have liitle knowledge on the Engineers to begin with, which is why its bad to make assumptions especially when you're talking about Ridley Scott. If you really want this conversation to go on then create another topic on another board instead of railroading this topic based on you trying to measure ego.

The expanded universe crap doesn't apply. Aliens VS Predators had xonemorphs on Earth thousands of years ago and Ridley Scott has openly said he doesn't recongnize the existence of Aliens 3 or Resurrection.
And a movie that raises questions and does nothing to answer them is by defult bad. That's bad story telling. It's like setting up a joke and walking away before delivering the punch line.
