Heh. You beat me to it on the announcement.

Remember to click on the "files" tab to access the other files associated with that project - only one file can be marked as "featured", and currently that happens to be the head morphs for arbitrary reasons. The level layouts are divided up based on geography and plot. Note that I left out the pre-generated lightmaps from these levels; they would have made the downloads much, much larger, and you'll need to regenerate those anyway if you do any modding.

Oh, another thing I posted a while back that you guys might be interested in is a set of "selection groups" at http://social.bioware.com/project/238/. Selection groups are like a clipboard saved to file, they contain a bunch of models that you can paste into a level in one operation. What some of our level artists do internally is to paste a selection group containing the common models they'll be using for a particular level (for example, a bunch of Tevinter ruin pieces) into the level's "scratch space" and then copy and paste individual pieces as needed.

Hey Bryan, that selection group project doesn't have any files in it. Can you share them plz? I am pretty excited after reading the description and would like to use that.

Agreed, getting some of those selection groups would be incredibly useful. Getting the main campaign .lvl files is already going to keep me busy exploring and learning for days, but it would be great to see those files up, if you have time.

Oops, the file was set to "group only". Fixed. May explain why there was so little apparent interest in that project before. :)

Interesting... this might actually get me to work on my mod (which I gave up on) once I get home.

Thanks a lot, I hope I can make the changes I wish with these files

HOORAY!

This is the single best thing Bioware could have done to help modders make mods. The level design process almost robbed me of my soul!

For users who are noticing that sometimes when you copy a room from one level and paste it into your custom level file, it turns up invisible: if you just save your custom level, close it, and then open it again, the pasted-in room shows up just fine.

Is anyone else unable to save the lvl files? When I open them up, and this is in my module file, it says it's a read only copy, and I can't save the changes I make. Anyone know how to fix this?

the levels are set to 'read-only'. go to the directory that holds the levels ...

go to properties on the folder that holds the levels,

un-check 'read only',

change, edit, and borrow to your hearts content ;)

I would be heartily grateful if you would add the *.vfxproj files for the placeable VFX effects to the core resources. Having those examples would be a huge help.

Does this mean that we will be able to modify the existing game and share it with everyone? Like adding extra areas to the Deep Roads for example and have it in your next playthrough
