What happen if Anders is dead when I start the quest "The last straw" (for example, if I play dragon age 2 with an awakening save where Anders is dead). The chantry won't explode ?

Anders is rectonned to be alive in Dragon Age II if Anders was killed in Awakening.

No matter what he's going to be there to blow up the chantry. If he wasn't then Meridith wouldn't have lost it and invoked the right of annulment. Well, she would have further down the line just not at that very moment.
