Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I searched and couldn't find anything.
I found the concept of the Darkspawn and Demonic "Corruption" rather interesting. From what I could tell, the walls seem to be growing tumors or some sort of fleshy meat bulbs and sacs. How exactly does this happen? It looked like it was actually growing out of the walls/floors/ceiling rather then just resting ontop of it, also if Oghren's comment in the Circle Tower and Velanna's in Kal'hirol are anything to go by, the fleshy stuff seems to be actually BREATHING, suggesting it's alive.
Now, in The Dead Trenches, Kal'hirol, and The Nest I could figure it being easily explained in that it's the Broodmother(s) that, once rooted into the ground, grow meaty vines which could potentially be maybe "Eggs" or "Birth Pods" I guess. This could also easily attribute them to being alive. (Interestingly enough you can loot stuff like money and fancy vases out of the pods, but, that could just be the game loot engine,)
But what of the corruption in the Circle Tower? No Broodmothers there, just demons. Also, according to Justice, there are places in The Fade that house the same type of fleshy corruption, to which he mentions a hunger demon is normally to blame. But what exactly IS it? Is it just meat "Brought into being" by the Hunger Demon's will, as if in the Fade? (As the Spirit of Valor mentions, everything in the Face is an expression of a thought.) At first I thought it might be meat from dead bodies and the like, being kept to be eaten like in the Tower of Ishal, but in Ishal you could easily tell it's people meat. In the Tower, it's pretty clear the stuff is literally GROWING out of the building. So, does anyone have any idea on where this stuff could actually come from? Is it simply the very nature of the mortal plane reacting violently to the "Leaks" from the Fade? Could the meat actually be food for demons that was created in the Fade, and leaked out into the mortal world when the veil was torn asunder?
Of course, there is the question of whether the Demonic and Darkspawn corruptions are related or not, as they appear to be completely identical. Could the Chantry's story of Darkspawn being from the Fade be true? Could the meaty corruption be the corruption that defiled the Black City, tainting the demons and Darkspawn within? Or are they two seperate unrelated issues?
.... By the way, anyone have an idea on how they would have gotten rid of all the fleshy stuff in the Circle Tower during cleanup? They seemed to be alive and growing out of the walls themselves rather then just inanimate objects sitting ontop of the structure. The only way I could imagine would be to burn it away, though that could easily backfire and raze the entire tower to the ground. But, they got rid of it somehow, since by Witch Hunt the Tower is back to normal.

I think it's just the standard RPG requirement for flesh blobs on walls. Seriously, I think every RPG (ME, DA, NWN etc.) has them. It's there for effect, to feel scary. Unfortunately, I've seen flesh blobs too many times for it to have any 'horror' effect, least of all in Dragon Age. As for your other question, I'm not sure.....
