Considering how they don't act or sound very alike, and the resemblance is passing, that's not much of an argument, I'm currently rp'ing a city elf who's very bitter and angry at the world (and after her origin story, you probably would be too). Generally abrupt ad abrasive, Leliana's helping her calm down and get over what happened that day.

At least, that's the idea. I'm suprised Alistair hasn't commented upon things yet (bother are over +30 and both are 'interested') but meh.

Just when I thought I couldn't love her more, this gem in Orzammar:

"I should get a job here when all this is over. I could sing, tell stories, help the King get stuff off of high shelves..."

Yeah... the French accent is a turn off for me. The Hundred Years War isn't something I'll just forget. France is rightfully ours!

If you say that after listening to her "pretty please?" in the Rescue scene... (epilogue of my banter series, just in case you do want to test yourself! She's irresistible!)

The War is over... and there's always the World Cup to set things straight... I have France stuck in my throat since 98... but at least in Starcraft we beat the french 5x2 that year! The night the French invaded Brazil again, this time in cyberland (BRA-1 on Bnet), to gloat about Zinedi fraking Zidane!

I'm French and I almost hurt myself laughing because of both of you. While France will never be English (even with the hundreds british living near our beaches), there's a good possibility that Brazil may destroy our soccer team in south Africa next year (no out of retirement Zidane this year).

This being said, I was worried that Leliana may end up betraying me at the end because of the description of Orlais. That she failed to do so quite relieved me because I was counting on her bardic/ranger/archery/lockpicking skills a lot during the last third of the game.

It took until my second playthrough before I gave Leliana the attention she is worth, and I must say I found her whole romance very, very well done. I totally love her character, background and voice. I suppose I am one of the few who didn't have any problem at all with the eyelash thing. She just seemed so giddy with happiness that she was a bit silly about it. I thoght it was adorable. All in all, I think it was the most complete and rewarding CRPG romance I have yet played, and I have played everything by Bioware since BG1.

Honestly, I never noticed this "eyelash" thing... what is it, really? they're too long? is that it? girls used to ask me for mine 'cause they're kinda long... what's wrong with that? do ppl really dislike her because of that? do they think they are false eyelashes? they're not that much longer than my own!

The "eyelash" thing is the post-sex talk where she says your eyelashes are like butterflys and she wants to catch them and put them in a jar. I'm of a similar mind as Xandurpein, I thought it was just a cute/goofy sort of thing and wasn't bothered by it (she wasn't being serious/crazy, it was just silly teasing to express affection). Leliana is my favourite of the companion NPC's, in part because she's kinda quirky; the character is also very sweet and likeable, and personally I think the British-influenced French accent is adorable.

Oh... cool... I remembered it now... well, if I could I would have said to her: "You're so sweet!"... at least with that char, human and all... this elf I'm playing now turned out to hate humans... don't know the slightest how it will end up! =)

I never did understand some of the Leliana hate. Yes she can be alittle creepy with the whole eye lash thing and her view on some things is alittle odd but every time I click on her and she does that little giggle thing I can't help but smile, lol.

She's french. More than enough reason right here.

Why hate the French? They have the best wine in the world, beautiful women, an enlightened view on sex and sexuality...  who cares about the politics?

I love Leliana, I love her voice, and I love how she can still be feminine and giddy despite being a vicious killer of darkspawn.

For me, it is that I can't shake the feeling that she is playing you for a fool. She is trained in playing innocent and adorable.

DA:O has some moments that practically brought tears to my eyes, one of which was if you had romanced Lelianna, not hardened her and made the ultimate sacrifice. There are a whole slew  of posts about about what Lelianna did, heartbroken, perhaps finally losing her hold on sanity, and her choice of suicide so that she could be with you again. While I do admit the epilouge did not *litterally* say she did the act, and this has been contested more times then I would want to repeat here, but it showed that she REALLY did care for you. More so then Morrigan I'd say.  When I read that part of the epilouge and realised what it meant, or at least how I percieved it to mean, I had to blink tears away and swore that in any game that I replay, if I do choose to romance her, I'd not leave her alone again. EVER.

*sniif* ... I agree wholeheartedly! I'm just glad that I captured it all in a movie (I ain't doing that char and that ending ever again... I cried a lot!) and taking her to the last battle was the best decision I made in the game, even if the sacrifice wasn't that smart! At least she showed up at the funeral and didn't commit suicide after. For all I can understand, she had another vision and she knew her time had come. Now, how long after the funeral was that, only the Maker knows...

One comment on the tube explicitly said that she doesn't show at the funeral and commits suicide and he wanted to know how did I do it. Only answer I can think of is that taking her to the last battle changes it. Not to mention the epic moment she gave me there! (it may happen a lot to other people too, but in the context, after the dialogue we had, it is kinda epic and I'm glad some ppl agree with me on that)

A little bump!

This was my #1 most viewed until today and now is #2. Guess that she deserves to go back up there! =)

This thread is also useful for those who use the Trailer Mod and want to keep or restore the original heads it changes (besides giving us that awesome Leliana's armor that can be seen in the video), thanks to the tips by Eonassassin on page 1!

The Trailer Mod mentioned in detail in previous posts, changes her head too. For me it's the most beatiful Leliana around. If only my wife looked like that... *sighs* (j/k)

Wow I never actually thought of that. The strange thing is I loved Imoen too and hated BioWare for making her my sister...

Btw. this is how Leliana looks in my game

Much better IMHO

I love Leliana!
She was the most life-like and most likable character in the game, methinks.

I had a hard time breaking up with her due to the "missing conversation" bug that comes if her approval raises too fast, and you don't ask her about minstrels being spies before her approval reaches 70-ish.

Playing you for a fool? Well, I'd say that's totally dependent on main PC's personality! Did you watch the first video? the way she say it? how she jumps with me for the kill? (hehe) ... ppl have been asking me what did I do to have her at my Rage's funeral... I think most are just used to treat her like a virtual Orlesian Emmanuelle and not giving her any respect. She's a hell of a great killer to the party too!

OneBadAssMother wrote...

I noticed on my first playthrough, I liked Leliana's voice/personality, but never liked her face. After installing a facemorph which suited her so well, things changed. Not to mention more experience in the game, you know exactly how to build her right to be one hell of a fighting machine. I ended up falling in e-love with her, and my wife interestingly found that amusing o.O

Very well said! But mine just wants to break my computer!!!

She's almost always one of my permanent team members who goes wherever i go! (the exception so far being my female city elf Rogue playthrough).
And yeah, she can whoop some serious ass if built well, i find that the mod that allows you to turn off the auto-leveling of party members when they join up helps a lot with that too.
