The cloak change was meant to punish new and mid-level players that take longer to line up shots and complete tasks.

In reality high-level players know that duration is a terrible evolution and no amount of difference in length will ever change that. Duration needs a real buff and most of that should come from moving some damage out of its current evolution.

So, you want to make it easier for the worst infiltrators to dump aggro on the team?  Besides, they're not going to learn to aim by using a crtuch.  They're just going to learn to use the crutch.  They're better off practicing without TC with something like a Batarian + Kishock, or Turian + Saber.

Translation for those of you that don't understand what he's saying:

"PLAY MY WAY OR YOU'RE PLAYING EZ MODE AND DUMPING AGGRO ON ME, WHICH IS LAME AND YOU CAN'T PLAY RIGHT."

I don't mind if people have crutches, if they want them.  I just want everyone to understand what they are and I don't want them jammed sideways in my posterior.

TC would be team friendly if it were damage deflection instead of aggro deflection.

You're still carrying on with your aggro dumping campaign? Jeez.

Just so you know, i've often played as a non-infiltrator in rooms consisting of 2 or 3 infiltrators and don't have any qualms with the added aggro, it's not like it makes it super hard to do anything, you just have to play smarter.

Though your 'jammed sideways in my posterior' comment basically sums up your issue; aggro dumping makes the game too hard for you, so instead of attempting to improve so it's not an issue you just want to blame everyone for your shortcomings.

That is the best EZ-Chair-Mode defense ever.  I applaud your efforts.

An that's the most obvious attempted aversion i've seen in a long while. Sadly i'm not going to applaud your efforts as that kind of response was inevitable. With that i'm out, because having a conversation with you is akin to beating a dead horse.

Horse meat's not bad, especially if you tenderize it first, I imagine, at least if you are starving.

But, you just gave me an idea for a new game mode.  I call it Samsung Mode.  Three players, randomly, get to ride EZ-Chairs-Of-Doom which make them totally undetecteable by the enemy and do 500% damage bonus with a Remote-Control-of-Doom which is like a Reeger with the Javelin's range and scope and cover penetration.  The other player just has to run around with whatever class, race, equipment and weapon they want, except no Remote-Control-Of-Doom and no EZ-Chair-Of-Doom for them.  Instead, the one player without the Remote-Control-Of-Doom and without EZ-Chair-Of-Doom is covered in hair like Cousin It which reduces his accuracy by 50%.

Who's got the e-peen for that?  I know I do!  I AM SAMSUNG MODE INCARNATE MUHAHAHAHAHAHH..........!!!

Which would make it Adrenaline Rush and not a "cloak" in the slightest. Try again.

The Nerf wasn't supposed to benefit anyone. BW saw the percentage of Infiltrator use, and also listened to the indoctrinated nerfer trolls to make the class less attractive to play. Personally, I'm about one major nerf away from helping balance the game by playing something else.

The balance is great.

Never noticed a problem reviving people or completing objectives when an Infiltrator wasn't on my team, so unsure why people are so reliant on cloak to achieve these things. Cloak makes them easier, sure, but they're not even close to impossible without it.

And Gi amd Si are beasts even if you choose duration. Not tried the others, but cloak damage or not, you can still Headshot things. And bosstypes? Work as a team! One class shouldn't be able to do it all! Had this been the way TC worked from day one, no one would be complaining...

I run the 0/6/6/6/6 hipster build for all my Infiltrators, so while the nerf doesn't do anything positive for me, it does no harm me either.

Ok, can't storm in TC, only walk.  Storm breaks cloak.

@OP even though this thread has already likely gone way off that post.

It was a balance change, not a 'fun' change. TC was seen as too much of a jack of all trades skill, so they BALANCED IT, not necessarily made it more 'fun'. The duration bonus in that evolution was not a competitive choice over the damage since you could already cloak for as long as necessary to hack an objective.

Basically having TC gave you the ability to do it all, hack objectives, escape aggro, do butt tons of damage and revive others safely. They thought that might be a bit too much for one ability. I tend to agree. So no one benefits from it no, but that ignores the reason for the change.

I imagine it so you have the choice between higher damage or longer duration. For people who snipe/cloak, the higher damage is more useful, as you are just activating you cloak for a few seconds, then firing off a round or two from you're sniper rifle. For people like myself who run around with a shotgun in cloak and pick off enemies using grenades, the duration is far more useful. The duration probably has more use for the melee character also.

The downside is in fact is hurts melee characters, because they need all the damage they can get, plus a longer duration. But you can't have your cake and eat it to a guess.

I was totally against the nerf but it forces bad teams to get better. Infiltrators should no longer be expected to be the only ones capping objectives.

i said it before, i say it again: the krysea was the and still is the problem. infiltrators got bad rep because of this weapon. some players made good use of the combo (infil + krysea) and got speed runs down to 9 minutes on gold. bioware didn't like that and hence making major adjustment to the infiltrator class... the cloak time is bs now. if you pick duration over damge... it's a joke too... the class needs a complete overhaul so players see a true benefit in using the class... how about a medic infiltrator. he could use the longer duration and gets bonus for quicker revive or can heal.... i dont know.... fix the class and get rid of the krysea.

Ballistic Blades(w/Explosive Blades Evolution) + Kishock to the face.  Spec Blade Barrier, Fitness, armor equipment(shield cells 3), and gear(stronghold 5) for max defense. Just walk right into Phantom's with the Kishock scoped and shoot them right in the face. When she is at distance, avoid the palm cannon. But, once she makes that bee line towards you, walk right towards her, scoped on her face, firing everything you've got. Get a punch in if ballistic blades does not blow her up or the Kishock does not take her head off.  I'm talking about Gold.  Not entirely risk free, but, fun nonetheless.

Now tell me how Infiltrators are hurt by TC changes, and it takes skill to play them, etc.

I think you've misunderstood my post. Its not an affirmation that infilitrator's have been hurt by TC changes.

That's funny cos I played with you recently, you were an infiltrator and you finished dead last.

Kind of weird coming from someone who constantly says infiltrators are OP and require no skill.

They should put the duration back up but move the damage bonus from shotguns/snipers to smg and pistols or melee. For the life of me, I still can't picture a cloaked class using those weapons. It goes against the very definition of what an Inf is.

I've finished dead last with every character in the game, many times.  If you looked at everyone's load out in that match you would have seen I was not using equipment except for shield gear 5, probably everyone else was using more equipement than me.  I did not spec fitness at all.  I was probably playing human infiltrator, not using ED or overload to strip shields and line up my shots.  Not reload canceling.  I did not spec fitness at all on any of my infiltrators except geth for melee.  I hardly ever play Infiltrator or use a sniper rifle other than Krysae(although, I just found out yesterday how much fun I have with Kishock on Batarians).

Yet, on the occasions where I am the only one alive, I have had more success saving the match with an Infiltrator than with any other class.  That goes to show that Infiltrator is EZ-mode.  Sure, other people can out score me for whatever reason.  But, I too can take my time killing all the things with an Infiltrator.  You don't need mad skillz for that.  Dumping aggro with TC is easy.

It seemed to me that you were lamenting the loss of damage for duration specced Infiltrators, primarily shotgun and melee Infiltrators.  I don't agree at all with the notion that more duration on cloak is good.

About the TC duration nerf its not all that bad, pretty much forces the team to be more involved in objectives instead of the infiltrator doing it alone, so yeah TC is still powerful, even with the reduced duration its still enough to plan which targets to kill, you can't really cloak right away and find your target you can't do that anymore which I do admit I missed doing that, instead you have to find your targets first then cloak, now about reviving it won't be as easy anymore, you can't really run to a group of enemies without risking your cloak duration to be over once you get there unless you took duration in rank 4 of TC which im sure the majority of the infiltrators did not choose, thats what I don't like about the nerf but unless everyone works together, you shouldn't have much problems with the TC nerfed at all.
My current build still works, im not sure how this nerf resolves aggro dumping though im not even taking that much damage because of the duration nerf just like before the TC was nerfed.

I would have personally preferred a higher damage nerf and leaving duration where it was. Infiltrators are supposed to 'infiltrate', as the name would suggest. Go behind enemy lines, take out objectives, snipe key targets etc. All these require a cloak of decent duration. The current cloak seems like a pre-shot damage boost power rather than an infiltration skill.

Yeah, if you want to infiltrate, you just take the duration bonus, as said many times.
The other one is made to be a pre-shot damage boost similar to assassinate in ME1, that's a fact.
