the "evil" side of the OC doesn't feel fleshed out. was it designed for paladins (all the vs evil/undead and diplomacy being ftw in most cases)?
first time playing this game in about 4 years

I thought that Dragon Age was supposed to be the successor to classic serries like Bladur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, but it is not - i started playing Dragon Age 2 and was immediately disappointed by it's dullness, it felt like Diablo from the start, not like a Dungeons And Dragons game - WTH was that puke? Anyway, the replayability value for NWN 2 is great.

yeah dragon age 2 is a sore spot. i know it's been said a lot (and maybe i'll get flamed for bringing it back up) but i think it blew because it was so console focused. DA:O played a lot like a PC game and had the tactical gameplay that you had to use to succeed. i remember it being too hard for a lot of console players so bioware released a patch (or two) to reduce the difficulty levels, all it really did was make it possible to autopilot the game without switching characters or pausing (prior to the patches you had to do this, even on the easiest difficulty). did pc gamers need this? no, and it isn't an elitist stance i'm taking, it's just that the game was DESIGNED for pcs and it didn't feel right on consoles (like starcraft 64).
dragon age 2 went the other way, and it wasn't even a good game by console standards. too many recycled areas, not enough templates. i know you visit the same types of areas over and over again in nwn2 but they're at least hand-crafted and have interesting stories for each one.

also can someone tell me what carries over to motb (loot wise)? i know you lose the plot sword but i'm wondering if i should bother crafting this late in the game.

I haven't played the OC or MotB in ages, but IIRC, you keep the armor, rings, boots, gloves... that kind of things. Weapons, shields (I think) and non-equipped stuff in your inventory are all lost.
If you want to keep talking about these things, ask on the appropiate forums. This one is spoilers-free.

You get to keep your shield. Everything you're equipped with, essentially, except your weapon (your cloak will be removed for the video, but you'll still have it).
