As someone who was bewildered and totally pissed by the original ending, I need to say that the Extended Cut gave me almost everything that I wanted.

If you haven't had a chance to play the extended cut, here are the new things it adds:

Final scene with LI-During the beam run, your squad gets evacuated by Joker. You get a final moment with your LI if they were in your squad.

Hacket now has an additional scene where he announces that somebody (AKA Shepard) made it to the beam.

Find out what the hell is going on-With the all new improved Starkid, you can ASK QUESTIONS! You can now get an explanation for his nonsensical logic!

An epilogue narrated by Hacket, including pictures of the various races celebrating

I chose the Destroy ending on every character. That's because in every version of the ending I've ever imagined, Shepard has survived. I can't imagine a variation where the commander dies.

If Shepard lives, you get a scene where the crew is mourning Shepard, but the LI hesitates to place their name on the memorial.

This really made the ending better. Instead of the depressing thing where the Normandy is stranded in the middle of nowhere, you get a heartwarming epilogue, showing the Krogan rebuilding, the squadmates who died, and the scene of Shepard taking a gasping breath.

Now, let me say what I DIDN'T like about the ending.

1. It's the end. Seriously, how can you LIKE the end to such an amazing series?

2. Still no reunion, but that is almost not necessary with the Destroy ending.

3. There is only one ending where Shepard lives. I hesitate to play again, because I know I couldn't bring myself to kill off the character that I have had throughout this trilogy. However, that means that I only get one ending.

4. Yo dawg, I heard you don't wanna get killed by synthetics, so I made some synthetics to kill you every 50k years so you won't get killed by synthetics.

All in all, the extended cut was great. However, I really dislike when you don't get to see the characters you actually care about celebrating. The best part of ME was how you felt connected, but the lack of a reunion really doesn't do that for me.
