4) Did you at some point change what was your personal Shepard's "canon" choice, and if so what did you change to and why.

1. Destroy with high assets but no multiplayer so my EMS was only 50%. This was before any patched adjustments so my decision did NOT show Shepard living. It was not until after I had finished the game that I discovered a hinted "Shepard lives" was attached to EMS. I say all that because I'm tired of people assuming folks chose Destroy simply because Shepard could "live". I chose it and thought Shepard died. I'd choose it every time. Shepard living is just a bonus.

2. I'll generously give it a 2 mostly because I sorta understood what they TRIED to do, but the execution and the poor story telling killed it.

3. Again, generously, going to bump it up to a 4, but only because they added more detail to try to explain what they were trying to do. But, like before, the execution was lacking, and the story telling still fell off a cliff. EC was supposed to close up plot holes but, instead, opened up many more.

4. No. Destroy has been my canon choice since the first time I completed the game 4 days after release and is still my canon choice. The issues behind all three choices (and now the fourth choice) haven't really changed simply because we got more dialog and extended ending scenes. In other words, adding gloss to a bad story doesn't make it a better story.

1) What Choice did you pick your first time through

I pick the
Destroy ending for the following reasons : contemplating three nonsensical choices in a nonsensical situation my connection to the story was completely severed and I made a choices based in no way on Mass Effect : I choose the one triggering the only unique cinematic as to not have to replay anything.

2) On a scale of 1-10 rate the pre-EC ending

1/10,
it felt completely disconnected to the whole story for me, like someone stitched the end from another game. In itself it also fails to deliver some very important things the authors wanted to convey.

3) On a Scale of 1-10 rate the post-EC ending

2/10, it now conveys the full message of the authors, it however still feels like the end of another story.

4) Did you at some point change what was your personal Shepard's "canon" choice, and if so what did you change to and why.

I did not play my canon Shepard in ME3 as the game couldn't do a proper import, I played the game with a "secondary" Shepard which I was willing to redo the face. After that play through I saw no reason to play the
game through my canon Shepard.

1) Destroy. I was so p***ed off by Reapers throughout all 3 games, that I wanted them dead at any cost by that point.

2) On a scale of 1-10 rate the pre-EC ending - 1. Too many plotholes.

3) On a Scale of 1-10 rate the post-EC ending - 3. Same crap with more explanations. Extra credit for BW for at least trying.

4) Did you at some point change what was your personal Shepard's "canon" choice, and if so what did you change to and why.
I was debating to go for Control option for my renegate Shepard to be hones. I think it is a grea b***ss ending. For my sweet fem. Shep I still choose Destroy.

1) destroy

2) 3.5

3) 4

4) no change (destroy)

For me my Shep worked hard not only saving the galsxy but creating a life for his self and his friends and LI. it is a defeat to me in some sense becoming a reaper or just DNA thats sacrafice a victory to my shep is defying the odds on my sheps own turns in his own body.
That being said I was quit disappointed that there was no reuion scene (especially if this is the last ME featuring shep ( way to kill a franchise :/) head cannon really if I knew that from the gate I think I would have played bioshock. And dont get me started with what bw did eith ME2 LI's the strongest game in the trilogy and they belittle the player and characters by giving us cameo's, most ME2 squad could/should have been part of the crew "oh I'm just savin the galaxy, that's all, I gots this!" & the fact that Miri or Jack aren't availble for at minimum TIM base and priority earth is quit a letdown so "4" is what I give EC (welp its better than 3.5 right?) If by some miracle they made ME2 squad/LI playable that could change it to a 7 (without the LI/crew reunite scene with shep) or a 9 (with a LI/crew/ME2 crew reunite scene with shep)....but I guess they could just head cannon me giving the endings a 9

Sorry don't wish do be mean but we r talking about the end of a franchise/trilogy.
Pretty sure am MMO is on the way :(

I doubt it.

BioWare and EA are struggling to keep The Old Republic above water, and Star Wars is a much, much stronger overall property than Mass Effect. If TOR had been everything they had hyped it up to be, then, yeah, I'd agree ME would be the next logical choice for an MMO.

Ok, I want to collect some data on reactions to the ending, but I don't think the BSN poll system will allow me to properly frame this question. I will present it as 3 questions below. Individually these are all questions that have been asked many times before, however I think seeing these answers together will provide valuable insight into people's feelings on the game and ending.

1) What Choice did you pick your first time through

2) On a scale of 1-10 rate the pre-EC ending

3) On a Scale of 1-10 rate the post-EC ending

4) Did you at some point change what was your personal Shepard's "canon" choice, and if so what did you change to and why.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Let me say this before it becomes an issue. Please do not post responses to people's answers in this thread, this thread is for answering the above questions ONLY. If I get a large number of responses, I will create a second thread where I link to this one for discussion purposes.

1) destroy
2) 2 for pretty visuals and great music, otherwise - 1
3) 3 for more pretty visuals and even more pretty music.  otherwise - still 1.  none of the serious problems were adequately fixed, and more were created. I was actualy tempted to give it 0 for heavy handed attempts to mask plotholes and lack of logic, with emotional scenes, but then decided against it.
4) still destroy.  whereas I used to see Mass Effect as a great story, I now merely see it as just another ok  video game and destroy + is the only ending that lets my protagonist survive.  and if one would think ethicaly. synthesis is.. too invasive, control is unreliable, refuse I don't concider to be a genuine ending since its essentialy an expanded critical failure (and even if it was genuine, dooming entire galaxy to death vs one species, just doesn't sit well with me).  so by the process of elimination? destroy

1) Destroy

2) 5

3) 6.5

4) No, i kept the destroy ending, i don't believe that synthesis, and control are something my Shepard would do. This is further backed by the tweets i have seen from bioware employees that said that the geth wouldn't be wiped out pre EC, and that i dont trust the catalyst.

1) On no sleep, synthesis, because I didn't want to reinforce the Starkid's idea that sometimes genocide was acceptable, and I'm pretty strongly opposed to genocide in general. Thought it was stupid and hated it.
2) 1
3) 2 - the presence of reject is the only improvement
4) Not sure. When I think about the Mass Effect ending I just feel a dull, hopeless ache that has only worsened since the EC. I guess that means reject?

4. No. Destroy is the best (possible) ending. Can't let reapers get away from the killings of trillions.

The ending slides help but I would still prefer a way to have high EMS refusal result in the reapers' defeat.

4) No change. My Shepard's mission was always to defeat the reapers and destroy is the only option that does that.

1) Synthesis by an accident, it triggred automatically. Managed to stop it in time and do destroy few minutes later. .

2) 3,5 bad points for the consusion and Edi appearance in the synthesis ending.

3) 7,5 - bonus 0,5 points for no babies, absence of wedding and Hollywood style happy ending. God how I hate those. The rest for actually mamaged to give some (not whining players) hope.

4) Nope, I actually agree with destroy. Only destroy. Galaxy needs to evolve on its own. Gonna miss the geth, but since Legion is not there anymore I can get over it. I am happy that Edi is gone. too, not gonna miss that.

1) Flipped through all of them.
2) 3 - Made no sense, 3 points for nice colors.
3) 3 - Makes no sense, was better but points taken for Shepard narration and attempted but failed explanations.
4) Didn't play again.
