How did the next cycle win the war? Did they win conventionally or did they have to build the crucible and yet again choose from the three crappy options?

Based on the ending cutscene, and Liara saying that the Crucible was not powerful enough to defeat the Reapers, I assume that they would have been able to design something else to win against the Reapers (either conventionally or unconventionally, but not with the Crucible).

It's up to you. The game says nothing, so I refuse to accept that they used the Crucible, thus granting any legitimacy to the Catalyst and it's repulsive worldview.

GambleMike said that they used the crucible anyway.

So your decision was moot.

If they're too lazy to put that in game, they don't deserve to have it legitimized by the players.

I wonder why the hell would they say the next cycle used the crucible. I would have been perfectly content to think that they would be prepared for a conventional victory etc, now they ruined everything...

In the game it says they avoided war, so presumably they used the Crucible.

Yep. They probably got Liara's beacon earlier when they just got to the Citadel, and had not expanded a huge empire. Built the Crucible; Docked it. Opened the Citadel Relay. Fired it into Dark Space (there's a Citadel sized relay out there) and fried the ****ers while they were hibernating. Because we know that Liara as an archaeologist made her time capsule extremely detailed and not like the sketchy crap we found.

Thanks, but it doesn't seem so obvious that they used the crucible...

Doesn't say they used it. So since they want us to speculate, I speculate the next race hooked up the Crucible, and defacated all over the catalyst's dais before telling him to f*** off while their super advanced fleets absolutely wrecked the reapers one by one as they came through the relay. And they laughed as the Catalyst shed electronic tears.

My hopes! </3
Ah well ... Do we know if they consider Control and Synthesis to be the destruction of the Reapers or simply the elimination of the Reaper threat? If only the latter, then I suppose we know that the future cycle chose Destroy?

Damn right. With options like mass genocide, mass involuntary genetic engineering, and galactic dictatorship, you can't really go wrong.

And dont let the trolls get to you. If BioWare wanted that the next cycle used the crucible anyway than they would have put it in the game since they released the Extend Cut which was their attempt to clarify

Refuse should've resulted in a phyrric victory on the Reaper's part. It'd weaken them enough so that the next cycle could live free.

Nope, they use the crucible anyhow. Refuse is just Synthesis with the effects delayed 50,000 years.
