I don't know if anyone else has ever had this issue, but occasionally, when choosing 'investigate' from a conversation option the game crashes to desktop with an error message, something about an 'exception'. I am playing the game on Steam, using Windows 7 64 bit.

Restarting the game, and going through the conversation again sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. The crash is not predictable, and seems to occur on a totally random basis.

Weirdly this only seems to have happened recently, as it never used to occur in my earlier playthroughs. The only changes to my PC that I am aware of is updating my Nvidia graphics card drivers to the latest version... though I can't imagine that this would be connected with the game's dialogue options.

If anyone else has had this issue and is aware of any fixes I'd appreciate a response.

With the way ME was ported to the PC, it wouldn't surprise me. Keep in mind that selecting a dialogue option will call an animation function. Have you tried rolling back the driver to an earlier version, just to rule the driver problem out?

I've considered doing just that, but in truth I am a bit scared of doing so in case it screws up my computer in some way.

Could you give some more specifics about the error message? If it says 'general protection fault' I'd like to see your PC specs and driver version of the graphics card.
