The Children of ME ......(Shepard and the ME Squad) ....OR..... Lots of different interesting genetic combinations are possible. Just one example: "Little blue children..." or whatever Human and Asari DNA might create. . Most of the "people" in the ME Galaxy are represented on Earth at the end of the war. The Reaper War as most wars results in a mixing of cultures and a blending of genetics. Lots of things to rebuild and problems to solve on Earth and the Galaxy. The Galaxy is a big place and the Universe is massive......there must be something out there to catch our interest. ME is a great game - please don't wait too long to give us another adventure with a "touch" of our ME squadmates and an new opportunity to develop our characters.

I don't see how they could possibly continue with Shepard with ME3 ending the way it does - Shepard is undeniably gone in two of the endings (Control and Synthesis), probably in Refuse (which involves the rest of the galaxy getting destroyed, too), and possibly even in Destroy. Now, granted, personally, I don't mind the Destroy ending (save for it randomly 'having' to kill EDI and the Geth...but that's an argument for another thread), but I wouldn't want them to suddenly declare it to be canon, and the other three choices to be "wrong." They've been very careful thus far not to outright contradict or overrule any canon that could potentially be established by the games... I'd really prefer if they didn't go back on that now.

Really, I cannot see a Mass Effect 4 being a possibility, and if it does happen, I would not bet on it being good. If they absolutely MUST do it, though...? I wouldn't want Shepard to return as anything more than a cameo, if that - a few small references here and there, perhaps, but nothing major; Shepard should not be the leading character, or even a significant supporting character, anymore. If they do a new game, it should focus on someone new.

I prefer to see continuation of the series with new characters.

Something like a new story but not a direct sequel thingy

Nah, Shepard is a legend and should stay as one.

New characters please!

Hell no.

His/her story is over.

I want new protaganist and new companions set within the same universe but with vastly later timeline with civilisation changed/adapted and rebuilt plus new technology and galactic balance of power altered also different story and threats. It needs breath of fresh air now in the franchise, three titles with him or her was enough. The one thing it will have to be for me is another Action or FPS RPG, meaning vast amounts of RPG gameplay elements. Though I couldn't really see myself however buying a FPS unless it is done like DEHR with huge amounts of RPG elements like mentioned. No interest in an MMO personally.

I would like a cameo appearance if I picked the destroy/ control option. If I picked destroy, I can visit him in the hospital. If I picked control, maybe Space God Shepard helps me against a huge threat (and indoctrinates me in the process).

Shepards story is over. However, if he survived ME3, it would be ridiculous for him/her not to make a cameo is future games. Other surviving squad mates should also make appearances.

I think it would be so cool to be able to drop into Shepards place and see him and his LI and find out a little bit about what's been happening in their lives.

I do tend to agree that after Mass Effect 3, Shepard should not come back for other stories except maybe in reference. Think John Grissom in the Mass Effect extended universe; he was mentioned but the stories were never about him. Or for that matter, the way Shepard is handled in the Mass Effect novels; Shepard is mentioned but never in a way that assigns a first name or gender.

I'd prefer a nice Afghan cap, myself (Ageless-Faceless-Gender-Neutral-Culturally-Ambiguous-Adventure-Person. AFGNCAAP for short.). That way I can fill out the character with my own ideas, not being bound to the ideas the game creators have.

This.

It worked so well for Dragon Age: Origins, it works well in TES games, Fallout, etc. I'd love to play as a different species in the Mass Effect universe.

Shepard had a good run, but I think it's time to make room for a new character.

Yes but I know the won't continue it. I would buy the next game if it is but if it isn't then the franchise is finished for me after this failure of a game, just like dragon age is finished for me.

Yet there's still a strong possibilty of you still buying another ME and DA game just like how some people act with the various franchises in games, movies, shows, comics, and novels.

I know what I would do. I not going to play a mass effect as anyone other than Shepard. Or maybe Garrus.

I will never play another dragon age after how terrible it was.

Not everyones like you.

I love the Mass Effect characters and would be very happy to see more of them, Shepard included obviously (provided the game was worth it) but honestly it would make more sense to start over with a new story and new characters. Realistically speaking another game with them would be a mistake.

Definitely not. Trilogy is complete story and Shepard's mission has been fulfilled.

I would actually like to see someone from the Raloi species trying to redeem their people for bailing out of the war, so no for me.

Let sleeping Shepards lie.

Otherwise, the franchise would devolve into the same dramatic compromise akin to superhero comic books: no one ever really stays dead, which undercuts any sense of peril, sacrifice, closure, etc.

Regarding his squad mates taking lead roles in future franchises: thinking from a marketing perspective, I think it unlikely, especially with the alien characters, since none of them really could embody an "everyman" or "everywoman" (albeit as an idealized space marine) that has mass market appeal (pardon the pun).

I'm guessing that BW would choose a new human-centric protagonist different from Shepard, but with enough universal appeal. Unless they go the way of Dragon Age where one could play as different races, but would BW have the time and resources for such voluminous voice acting with the complexity such diverse story-boarding would entail? Doubt it.

I would like Shepard back but not as the main character. I'd really like to see my Shep sitting on the vacant human council seat. Even the lead voice of the council now. Helping to get things going, rebuilding and maintaining the peace he/she made.

My Sheps always survive so.

Shepards story has been told. If they want to continue his story, so be it, ill sit back and see how badly they can screw it up even more. If they decide for a new protagonist, is like the main character to be.the odd man out, maybe.a human who just left earth for.the first time and is seeing the galaxy with fresh eyes.

Time for a new protagonist, but like others have said, it would be nice if Shepard and his achievements/fame were cross referenced in future games. He did some good stuff! Pretty excited to see what new stuff Bioware will cook up with the ME franchise. I suppose there will be 12 months of ME3 DLC like ME2, and maybe something new after that? Hope so. It's a vast, rich universe with loads of stories to tell. They don't have to be gigantic doomsday story like Shepard's. Something shorter and more personal would be an interesting turn to take. I just hope it's not a MMORPG. That kind of thing does nothing for me. I'm a 20 to 40 hour kinda gal, none of this WoW nonsense.

Other endings...Miranda I can clone the body from tissue samples. Geth we have a complete copy of Shepard Commanders mind from when he and Legion entered one of our servers.

Just saying anything is possible no matter the ending.
