Is it possible to one-hit kill a fully-shielded enemy with Javelin or Widow on Insanity with Disruptor Ammo equipped?

I was messing around on Insanity difficulty with a Soldier, using both the Javelin V and Widow V. I am aware of the shield gate mechanic, and that on Insanity no extra weapon damage will transfer to health/armor after destroying shields. (For those who may be unaware, the shield gate mechanic is explained here.)

I specced Disruptor Ammo for maximim damage, the Soldier passive for extra ammo power damage, and Fortification for extra power damage. With Fortification active, Disruptor Ammo gives the Soldier a 102% shield damage bonus. I believe the ammo damage bonus is derived from the base weapon damage, and the ammo power deals its damage before the weapon deals any damage.

With the Javelin V and Widow V, this was not enough to one-shot kill a Cerberus Guardian or Engineer. My question: Is it possible, with either the Javelin X or Widow X, to one-shot kill a shielded enemy (Guardian, Engineer, Hunter, or Marauder) with Disruptor Ammo active?

Note that I do know what kind of bonuses an Infiltrator may get, so it maybe it would be possible to do it with an Infiltrator instead? Just curious.

I don't believe so, not without modding.

Insanity HP

Theoretically, the enemy on insanity with the smallest amount of shields is the Geth Rocket Trooper with 900/900, but that is at the beginning of the game... it will likely be closer to 1350/1350 when you actually fight them.

In any event, assume the 900 shields... we need to make up all of that with Disruptor Ammo's damage call.

Javelin X does 993.7 base damage... you would need DA that grants a 91% bonus.  Max DA is 60% and I do not think you can actually make that all up with power damage bonuses from passive, which are the only ones that increase ammo power damage.  Ammo also does not get the headshot damage multiplier as far as I know.

That said, it is still nice to have incase perhaps Garrus shoots the target and drops it's shields substantially, but it still has a bit left.  You might one-shot them.

edit:  missed the part about running it on Soldier with the 102% bonus...

I was thinking infiltrator and forgot it goes that high on Soldier. In any event the problem is still that with a 102% bonus the max DA damage should be 1013.574.  In any event that is still lower than the starting shields for all Cerberus shielded targets on Insanity, slightly higher than a Marauder, and higher than GRT and Hunter.  It is still lower than the ending level of shields for all shielded enemies though.

Issues confounding this is that you don't acquire Javelin till 2/3 of the way through the game practically, and if you talk about level X, that is NG+ territory and you are basically going to be Level 60, so max health and shield levels for all enemies.  Meaning that practically speaking it shouldn't be possible.

edit2:  Infiltrator's can get a 25% power damage bonus from passive, but that is at Rank 6 and is opposite the SR Damage which gives you a .15 dynamic rifle bonus as well as the .15 bonus to headshots.

Ha wait, I should have thought of this earlier...

If you have the bonus power evolution for ARush and have Energy Drain, I would have to run the numbers to see if it is possible to "one-shot" after using EDrain first. That might actually be doable...

If you use Energy Drain, then you should have no problem on-shotting after using Energy Drain, especially considering all the weapon damage bonuses and headshot bonuses you can get through passives, ammo powers, weapon mods and armor pieces. I was just wondering if it was possible to one-shot without using Energy Drain if I maxed out Disruptor Ammo damage.

No without Energy Drain it shouldn't be possible.  Fortification shouldn't noticeably tip the scale either with the the "+20%" power damage either.

With it, you should be able to defeat any target with less than 2333 shields with a headshot if my math is right. That's because you can get a 440 damage EDrain on Soldier, 3x multiplier from shields (1320 shield damage), then the DA call of 1013, and then headshot of the Javelin. That means all shielded Cerbi units except Atlas (not possible, clearly) and Phantom (may be possible with power damage from Intel and armor...). And in theory all Geth units except Primes.

It is impossible to one shot any enemy with protections using a sniper. The shot will break the shield but will do no damage to health. It is however possible to one shot protected enemies with a shotgun, as the individual pellets are counted as separate shots.

That depends.  Ammo powers (except Incendiary) have their damage applied first.  That is why you can indeed get limited "shield bypass" with a sniper if you equip the right ammo power.
