Can you respec talents and skills? If so, how?

And if not, anyone working on an editor?

I really dislike training/spec systems where you cannot redo things later after you have actually tried it out.

Thanks!

Nope... and the modders could do that perhaps.

What the heck is Bioware's deal with this. They do this every game, and then people have to edit and hack in order to allow it.

Do they think people actually like having abilities and training they hate 2 hours later?

I'm glad it's the way it is, it forces you to actually think about your talents.

Hate is a strong word to use for a virtual skill in a computer game. As a poster wrote before, you have to think
about your desired skills in order to be satisfied with your character.

Also, I don´t remember playing any single player RPG that allows respecs. Must have ignored them on purpose.

I respect Bioware's decision to not allow the main character to respec, but I am absolutely frustrated by the specs some of the companions join up with. I wish we could respec them when they join up.

I think some of the "you need to think" people... probably need to think about getting off their high horse of superior gaming intellect. Choosing Spells/Talents with no frame of reference in real use is pretty difficult for some of us. It's not like everyone can magically intuit how those spells/abilities will work in their next battle just by reading the text description of a spell. :P Respecing back one talent decision would actually be useful if I discover that a talent/spell really doesn't fit my playstyle when I try using it in the next two or three battles. As it is, I'll definitely be creating an "alternate save" each time right before I level so I can try out abilities, and if they don't work well for me, I can reload and pick something else.

I was just frustrated that I started as a big 2h sword guy thinking it would be viable, before realising I miss every second hit and I die ridiculously easily. I've now got all these points in 2h skills but they're terrible. I wish I could respec :(

Looking from a pure RP perspective I love the fact you cannot respec anyone. The multiple saves sound like an option, but you'd then prbably replay a lot of battles?

I wish I was in the position to judge for myself, but I'm still waiting on release here you lucky b*stards ^^

2H on hard. Not a problem. You gotta put points in dex so you can actually hit with your beasty weapon.

That's nice for you. What about everyone else?

You realize that if a respec existed, you wouldn't have to use it, right?

By that logic, choosing talents in the first place breaks imersion. Or those little floating numbers above my enemies head break imersion. IE you aren't making any sense. It's a game.

I prefer it this way, you have to define your character and that's it, you can't just notice a boss is requiring a particular type of strategy and then go respec into what is necessary. That being said, if a modder wants to come and add it, great, but I think if this sort of thing was in the game at release, the ability to respec would be criticized by many, as reviewers tend to look at the game as a whole, not just at what content they want to use.

Allowing you to respec is like giving your character every talent for which your character met the requirements. "Oh, this talent doesn't work against this monster, I guess I am respeccing." Just like in life, you can't have it all. Otherwise, why bother going through level ups.
Instead of being upset about getting a talent that doesn't satisfy you, try to find a use for it, experiment, develop your companions with different specs, etc. None of those talents are absolutely useless.

Let's keep all the talk of re-speccing in a single thread, please. Thank you.

End of line.
