Could anyone be able to tell me if it is possible to install this on a alternate hard drive? and if so how to do that? It does not have the usual advanced install option and I like to keep all my games on a drive seperate from the boot drive.
Want to install to a drive other than C:

When you do a custom install, hit the Advanced button, it should have an option to show all drives or something.

That's the problem I didn't even see a custom install option present itself, just a install button

Nah, you can't miss it. After the EULA agreement, you are presented with a popup with only two installation choices: Express or Custom. You have to choose one or the other before continuing. Come on, admit it! You were just so excited about getting the game installed that you just blew past all the confirmations without reading.

I think if you allready have an EA game installed on your system it will automatically install DA:O to that drive..... The reason I say this is because I have Warhammer Online in stalled on My game storage drive "B" and was surprised it automatically installed it there without me having to direct it to that drive.....although I can't really remember if there was button for advanced instalation.

I had to manually run the installer to get it to give me a custom install option, otherwise it went straight to my C: drive. I don't have any other EA game installed on this machine either (new Win7 install)

As others stated, the installer should allow you to do a custom install to change the default install path. If the D2D version doesn't allow you to designate a custom install location, you can just create a dynamic link or junction if the installer doesn't allow you to designate a different install folder.
For Vista and Win 7 users, you can create a junction this way:
- Right click on your default Dragon Age Origin install folder and choose "Cut"
- Paste in the destination sub-directory on the drive you want to move to.
- Open a command prompt by typing "CMD" in your search bar, you may need to elevate this with Run as Admin
- Type the following in the command line, adjust for wildcards accordingly: mklink /J "C:\\%default location%\\Dragon Age" "D:\\%destination location%\\Dragon Age"
What this does is it physically moves all your files to wherever you specify, but the OS actually thinks its located at the original install location. This is helpful if you ran out of space on your original install drive, if you want to move the location after the fact, or for me, especially useful if you're using an SSD.
The way I use this function is to simply install all my games on my large 2TB RAID 0 array, but for certain games, especially ones I'm currently playing, I'll move them to the SSD to benefit from its faster seek and load times. I'll physicall move the files then create a junction from its original install location so that I don't have to muck around with reinstallig or changing registry entries. When I'm done playing that game or need to clear space, I just delete the junction links and move the files back to the original location.

Mine was setup to install right alongside the Character Creator, which I placed on my L drive (all my games go there). I was allowed to choose an alternate destination through the Custom button on the installer, however.

Yes I was excited! but I didn't miss anything. I have plenty of other EA games along w/ the Dragonage character creator on my (E:)game drive, I thought it would go there automatically like some games do when I don't see a custom install option. I will try reinstalling it by manually running installer instead of autoplay.

Never ceases to amaze how all the different installs "ADVANCED" or "CUSTOM" (omgomg!) options only mean you get to choose where to install it, very advanced indeed.

Well after starting the Installer manually I have the "Select Install Type" option. Thank You Saracor for your solution, Thanks to everyone else for your responses also.
