The trick is to realize that your position is not airtight, while the lore actually is.

No, the lore isn't air tight. Forcing it on me isn't going to change my opinions.

Looks like they're including new female character anyways?

You're kind of freaking out over nothing?

And like I said, females aren't the target audience. Anything for them is "extra". And that's just the way things are right now. You can't demand radical change asking for videogames to suddenly become just as popular for women as they are for men.

And don't for one second I don't understand your position.
Don't do it man.

(I'm in a rush. I might respond in more detail later)

It looks like they're offering more than one female character, -but- that doesn't seem like an official bioware release. I'm not getting my hopes up over what could be clever fakes, or things that might be in file, but posibly not released.

Like I said, I'd rather be right about future DLC lacking females, or wrong about it as opposed to hope there's females in the DLC than be wrong.

I'm not interested in who the target audience is. Still, that "extra" you speak of is appreciated a lot by me. Probably more than most guys are apppreciative towards getting another guy. Guys are common. :P

And I'm not trying to wave some magic wand and make games popular among women. I don't have to. there's plenty of women who game. they may be the minority, but honestly, I don't think most minorities care they're the minority, they still want to have a voice.

Yeah, it is airtight. BioWare writes the lore. If you choose to "interpret" something differently than they do, that's fine. But you have to realize that what they write is the official "interpretation".

No matter how much you want to claim it's "not airtight", the simple fact that you said "forcing it on me isn't going to change my opinions" negates your entire argument.

Also, it's very annoying that people keep glossing over the fact that when we had the "accidental Earth character previews" today...
There were two slightly different codes with the same ability list. That matches the M/F coding for humans that exists now.

I will cry a single tear if all the new content (save the maps) is Ultra Rare because I'll never ever unlock them with my luck and lack of free time.

Yeah, I think we're done "debating." This isn't a debate, you're basically telling me "It's not going to work, so stop talking about it," which is stonewalling.

Rebel_Raven,

I want you to know that I support your opinion in having more female characters. I said as much way back in my first post. However, as has been previously mentioned, the "minorities" are rarely represented equally and that includes male & female. For the sake of my Black & Asian friends in particular, I'd like the game industry to represent them equally. Gays & Lesbians as well. BioWare has done a fantastic job of "spreading the love" if you will. Shepard can be all the colours of the rainbow, male or female, gay or not. That's a hell of a lot more than most.

Having said all that though, you want to feel sorry for someone? Feel sorry for the straight white male. Nobody gives a toss about those people anymore.

In short, if you're not happy, write a letter. Send it to BioWare with all your arguments for the particular inclusion of women and stop soapboxing here. If you suceed, I'll gladly be the first one to congratulate you. For now, enough already.

So this is what I found while cavorting through the internets:

SomethingAwful:

(Adept) N7 Fury: Throw, Annihilation Field, Dark Channel (Soldier) N7 Destroyer: Multi-Frag Grenade, Missile Launcher, Devastator Mode, T5-V battlesuit? (Engineer) N7 Demolisher: Homing Grenade, Arc Grenade, Supply Pylon, has an explosive Omni-Tool. (Sentinel) N7 Paladin: Snap Freeze, Incinerate, Energy Drain, has an Omni-Shield. (Infiltrator) N7 Shadow: Tactical Cloak, Shadow Strike, Electric Slash, has a guddam sword *is Kai Leng I'm assuming*. (Vanguard) N7 Slayer: Phase Disruptor, Biotic Charge, Biotic Slash, has a guddam sword.

Shacknews:

A series of posts in the Something Awful forums detail a new difficulty mode for those tired of Gold, called Platinum. This seems like a reasonable choice, given that many of the new classes sport pretty dangerous powers. The "N7" human classes bring abilities like a Homing Grenade (Demolisher), Devastator Mode (Destroyer), and Electric Slash (Shadow). The Slayer even has a sword. The descriptions put a lot of emphasis on these new classes having dramatically stronger armor, or faster movement speed.

All speculative but intriguing nonetheless.

N7, I wonder like some others have said - could these be promotional only, and not ultra rare?

Also the annihilation field - I wonder if that is a defensive power like the banshee and phantom's power cancelling fields, so it blocks enemy attacks? Might be completely wrong.

I appreciate the support immensely.

And you're right. I love how progressive the single player is.

I dunno about the feeling sorry for the straight male as far as playable characters in videogames though. They're all over the place. :P

You're right, though. Next time we get an all male DLC pack, or in the unlikely event each and every female character in Earth DLC doesn't stack up, I'll send an email Bioware's way.

As it stands, I'm not as angry as I was before now that the gender ratio is 50/50 in this DLC which was about 3 times more than I wanted, and even moreso than what I expected.

Indeed, I'm immensely grateful to Bioware for putting in the effort to make female characters this time. I can't wait to unlock, and, hopefully, enjoy them.
