I have encounteded a lot of problems lately with crashes etc, but once I started a new character it got a lot better. But now I've reached a point where I can't get past.

It's a cutscene of the archdemon flying and landing on a rock formation, roaring towards the screen (not sure what triggers it. Doesnt matter where I go on the map it triggers. I have completed 3 out of 4 main quests pre-landsmeet)
I can see the cutscene no problem, but then it fades out and I start hearing the normal music again. But here, when my screen is black, it crashes.

No matter what I do. I have disabled all mods, tried the lowest settings on everything, disabled AA etc. Disabled all sound and played in windowed mode. I also tried using one or two cores on my CPU as well, but nothing works. This is too bad since I am so close to the landsmeet etc and soon done with the playthrough.
THIS IS NOT ON STEAM. And I have version 1.05.

Any other ideas you guys have?

Specs:
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series (Updated to latest driver today! 2/7-12)

Obtain and install a thermal monitor. Speedfan is a good choice. I think the GPU is getting too hot and having to shut itself down. If not that, your power supply has begun failing, and the first thing it cannot handle is full GPU power demands. What BRAND it is says much more about a PSU than the number of watts, and AMPS are more important than Watts as well.

A corruption in the original display driver may persist even if a new display driver is applied over it.  You may consider doing a complete uninstall/reinstall of your display driver in safe mode.  There's a link below in my sig.

If that's not it, two other things to try.  Gorath's suggestion on monitoring system (and especially GPU temps) is a good one.

Also, you may consider doing a complete uninstall and reinstall of the game.  This could be especially helpful as some mods cannot truly be "disabled" -- a clean install is required.

It indeed was one of my mods. It didn't play well with one of the camp cutscenes. But I didn't have to uninstall anything. All that was needed was to equip game armor (that exist normally in the game), and I could continue fine. Thank you both for your suggestions though.

Glad to hear it's working. Thank you for taking time to update the thread with your solution-- hopefully it will help others! - RI

Having the same problem here. . .

Looks like I'm putting on vanilla armor for all my characters then. Out of curiosity if Streakyferret ever reads this, what armor mod was it?

EDIT: Alright, I did the same thing (removing armors that I recently installed on my characters) and finally got through the cutscene. It is either Leliana's Sacred Ashes armor or the Grey Wardens of Ferelden B set of armor. I installed both of these this playthrough so it would make sense if it were either of them.
