Suggestion: "Story Mode" mod/DLC

My suggestion is a version of Dragon Age: Origins without the combat. Basically, I want to be able to make all the important decisions, dialogue, romance, and story choices for my characters, but don't want to slog through the whole game of combat, exploring, levelling, skill selection, and gear management.

Here's how I think it would work:

First, you create your character as normal. Then, the whole game would basically be a series of dialogues and cutscenes, skipping completely over the "filler" combat, and playing the important bits of action as a cutscene-style action. You wouldn't need to worry about gear management or levelling up for you or your companions. Each character would be wearing "signature armor" (Grey Warden armor for Alistair, for example), and stay that way. As the game progressed, you WOULD get to choose the Specializations for your character, which would influence your gear's appearance. (A blood mage would have red and black robes, a spirit healer would have white/tan robes, and the arcane warrior would have more "armored robes).

Include all purchased DLC and Expansions. At the end of Witch Hunt, save your character for import into DA2. (And something like this for DA2 would be good, too.)

If Bioware released this, I would gladly fork over some cash for it. (Maybe as a different difficulty level?).

Personally, I would not be interested in such a DLC - leveling up, and customizing your character and their equipment is an important part of the game for me. But who knows? Maybe there'd be an audience for such a thing. Don't know if the audience would be big enough to make the DLC profitable though.

Basically, what I really want is a way to create a "perfect save" for importing into the next game in the series. Perhaps something like ME2's "comic book" style ability to create an old save? I'm not sure. Perhaps instead of DLC, it could be a stand-alone product, that checks your registered content to see what games/DLCs you have to make sure you can only make decisions from those games? It's just brainstorming at this point...

It would have to be a standalone. The current set of games, DA:O through Witch Hunt, has known problems with the flags. The transition from DA:O to DA:A messes up a bunch of them.

Since you're on PC/Mac, you should have the ability to use the console and run the script "killallhostiles" to get close to the experience you're looking for. You'll still have to walk around and loot things, though.

I actually considered using that, Corker. But wouldn't I still have messed up flags going in to DA:A?

Ah, now I see what you mean. And sure, some kind of a save game creation method would be welcome.

There's the third-party Gibbed saved gamer creater, but it lacks many of the smaller details, and appears to have a number of bugs in which flags are saved properly. I'd love to see Bioware release an official "DA:O Saved Game Creator", if nothing else.
