Finally some clarification on that via Game Rant's article. Apparently Tully Ackland of Bioware confirmed this on these forums {so sorry if this isnt news to you}. There was alot of speculation and it definately was not clear in game, so this is a very nice little thing to wake up to. Now all we need is some type of actual visual portrayl of this in game. Be it a  single slide or scene attached to other dlc-whatever. Just do it Bioware, I think the demand for it is clear. It will help your dlc sales immensely and it cant go against your artistic vision if its what you put in the game and intended. Thoughts? What does this clarification do for you?

The only way of putting a reunion or some crap like that if Bioware makes a pre-ending DLC like the leviathtan and put as a bonus cutscene as a surprise. Techinally, this wouldn't be called an "ending" DLC, I mean this is the last of shepard's story so there must be some DLC that could shown in the outcome like "From Ashes" with Javik.

I'm sorry, I saw this and all I could think was

ME4: The game where the ending's made up and the choices don't matter.

(which is a play on Whose LIne Is It Anyway?'s tagline of "everything's made up and the points don't matter")

To contribute to the discussion, I'm torn.  On one hand, i agree with those who say that Shepard's taking a breath should be a clear indicator that he's alive.  On the other hand, given how many different explanations for in-game scenes have been thrown around on Twitter, often contradicting one another, I can sympathize with those who just want something stated plainly.

And while Shepard's taking a breath seems clear to me, some of the other things Tully Ackland pointed out were not nearly so clear to me (like the love interest not putting up the name plaque - I thought it was just them holding on to it as the last piece of Shepard, I didn't interpret it as a sign that they know that Shepard is alive), so I'm certainly willing to cut slack for other people who may find different things clear or confusing.

Must have missed the Javik part in the ending, has there been one?

I would not be so certain that this is the last of shepards story afterall.....just sayin

Oh yeah. Lets just cut to some random guy in N7 armor and make a big deal about them taking a breath with an extra scene that you need high EMS to achieve. Oh and lets make it a random female when they choose Femshep. Really people?
