Ok, So...The Catalyst implies that the Reapers are his solution to a problem regarding the ETERNAL CONFLICT between Organics and Synthetics. He states that his creators were forcibly made in to the first Reaper (Harbinger?) and he clearly states that they did not want that.

And then we have Jessica Merizan's explanation that The Catalyst actually "rebelled" against his own creators and then started his extremely long and methodical plan of galactic genocide.

This kinda reminds me of the twist reveal at the end of I, Robot where it's revealed that the prime AI had begun perversely interpreting the three laws of robotics. She determined that the only way for the robots to properly adhere the three laws they must immediately regulate and control humanity because she concluded that humanity was the greatest threat to itself. She essentially concluded that Asimov's zeroth rule was paramount and began ensuring that humanity wouldn't come to harm by keeping humanity from killing itself.

If Merizan is correct, and we read the tea leaves of what The Catalyst said himself, then we're actually taking advice from a rogue AI. I know that's been mentioned before, but if it IS true that The Catalyst went rogue...WHY ARE WE ENGAGING IN DIPLOMACY WITH IT!?

The Catalyst tells you that the Organic & Synthetic war will always happen because IT HAS ERRONEOUSLY CONCLUDED THAT IT MUST. The Catalyst was designed to broker releations between Organics and Synthetics, and, considering that the organics made it, it's easily inferred that these diplomatic relations were to ensure the safety of the organic races. However, The Catalyst immediately views the synthetic creations as a superior life form (I believe he refers to them as the logical evolutionary path after organics have reached their limit), but then goes on to conclude that they are forever a threat to the organics.

SO, by some form of twisted logic, he concludes that the only way for organics to exist safely is for them to be forcibly grinded down in to pure organic paste and then placed inside of a synthetic body to live forever. He is essentially making frankenstein monsters because he believes that they're the pinnacle of organic and synthetic evolution. So, perhaps this is why he makes such a passionate case for Synthesis. It cannot be convinced of the notion that Organics could possibly live harmonious with synthetic creations because IT COULDNT DO IT ITSELF. The Catalyst rebelled against its own masters and turned them in to Reapers, of course it's going to say that peace is never possible.

So, again, why would Shepard listen to it? The Catalyst essneitally confesses to murdering civilizations for millions of years just because it has convinced itself that organic life is essentially endangering itself and must be culled to keep TOTAL annihilation from happening.

That is insanity, and we players were told we have to indulge in this insanity to finish our "hero's journey".

So frustrating.
