Hahaha if synthesis is their preferred ending they are going to be disappointed when they notice the vast majority choose Destroy first and Control second. Hell I'm pretty sure Refuse is more popular than Synthesis.

Their motives are unfathomable.

We touch their minds, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding their artistic integrity.

We play their games because they allow it, and we shall stop when they demand it..

They are Bioware.

I think this text should be at the end of the credits of Mass Effect 3.

Nope. They want synthesis.

And the fact Shepard dies in the other endings doesn't make destroy their prefered one anyway. It's the end of Shepard's story anyway.

And there is NO canon ending. Why do you want that there will be one?

It may be the end of Shep's story, but if they are ever going to move the timeline forward,  the future games ARE going to be based on one of those endings. Therefore it will be the canon ending.
That's just what i think.

Shepard chose Control, but the energy wave killed all synthetics and turned organic beings into techorganic hybrids.

I mean, they´ve already ripped Deus Ex with the endings, why not with the starting point for ME4?

I was just saying that, if they ever make a game ahead of the timeline...and don't go into the past or paralell story line, then something is going to be based on one of these endings....that doesn't make sense to you? I just find the scale to hard to imagine to fit the setting based on your choice in the past.  Right now it's just really hard to think about....just imagine the new game, taking place in the future, and everyone complaining why everyone doesn't have green eyes and a "computer chip" wavey sheen on everyone's body.
On the other hand, imagine how weird it would be....maybe not to you or other fans of synthesis, but to everyone else it would just be plain weird to have everything synthesized.
Unless they did some alternate reality jumbo... I just think Destroy would be the easier to go off of.

Personally I don't believe there is a preferred ending in general, becaues them saying it's the preferred ending means it's the best...and really there is no BEST.  These choices were made to be difficult on purpose.  What you get out of the endings is up to you.
Them saying that and getting that response from the community probably wasn't really the intended effect.

Well, I don't think it's impossible. IF they will take their time with this type project. I won't like to play a sequal if I the game won't have me playing the game from the control option. Just like there would be many people that chose destroy and won't have any other ending. Same for synthesis, and reject. A game about choices needs to at least acknowlage them.

I doubt they will have a canon ending. If they can't handle all the choices, they will do prequals instead. Or they will just let Mass Effect rest in peace. :(

BTW, I don't believe it can get more obvious BioWare prefers synthesis. That ending is full love of and happiness. It's not really "the best". There is no right or wrong here.

Mac & Casey are either geniuses pulling a big trick (IT) on us, or they are really just so incredibly weird that they thought Synthesis was actually the "perfect" ending. I wish it was the former, but at the moment I'm leaning toward the latter.

Prefered isn't the word, but I do think that Bioware sees synthesis or control (by a paragon Shepard) as the most "happy" ending and also most in line with certain values/views they wanted to share with the players. They made 4 options, so you can dismiss those values/views and chose your own one(s).

I don't think synthesis will be the canon ending though, if there will be one.

Destroy will be the canon, if only by virtue of being by far the most popular choice.

Really, any future games set after the events of ME3 could be made to work with Control or Destroy pretty easily. Synthesis is right out, though.

This.

Synthesis is Bioware's baby.  Jump into the beam of green space magic and make everyone's problems go away.

Destroy requires much more sacrifice and has the least payoff.

What's wrong with synthesis? I picked that first out and never regretted the choice.

They laid it on pretty thick on the Synthesis option. I have to think that was the one they thought was best.

Does anyone perhaps have a link to where that is actually stated, that synthesis is their preferred ending?
I would very much like to read/see that!

In the leaked script, Synthesis was referred to as the "perfect" ending. It's their baby. I think they thought we'd love it. We don't.

I keep thinking of that scene in The Matrix, where Mr. Smith is talking to Morpheus about how they had to scrap their first version of the matrix. They made it too utopian, you see, and people started freaking out because they wouldn't accept it. That's how many people feel about Synthesis. We. just. don't. believe. it.

All the more reason for me to do it, then.

I'm not that into the whole "behind ME" thing (yet). Where can I find that leaked script?

BioWare desperately wants us to choose Synthesis.

Before EC, the game was jam-packed with religious alusions, topped off by the light shining down on Shep as he ascended on the magic elevator, his Christ-like sacrifice, and Joker and EDI fulfilling their ultimate Adam and Eve roles on Gilligan's Planet (aka the Garden of Eden). How "deep" and "soulful".

After EC, the Synthesis ending is jam-packed with over-the-top happy ending-ness. Everyone (except Shep) is alive, everyone is perfect and possibly immortal, everyone is friends with everyone else. The Reapers share the knowledge and wisdom of previously-reaped civilizations from throughout galactic history. Good grief. All we're missing is rainbows and lollipops and kittens having babies with puppies.

*shrug*

Even if it weren't so overtly silly and green, I still wouldn't choose it.  Mass violation and all that.

Do you take it at face value? Do you think people would happily accept being imposed such a change?

And how much suspense of disbelief do you have?

I get the impression Destroy get's the genocide penalty because there needed to be a way to make Synthesis look appealing. Otherwise you get a fairly straight forward, control = I want power = renegade or destroy = I want peace = paragon, dynamic going.

Yes, yes.  No need to be quite so literal.

That vast majority of people don't like it.  Better?

Don't think they have a canon. I preferred destroy... that's it.
