well that kind of logic is AKA "The end justifies the means."  and if you listen to the starchild...he explains that synthesis is something that can NOT be forced...so to say synthesis is forced on everyone is stupid

And yet it's most definitely forced, and also you listened to something the reaper consensus just told you after they've been trying to manipulate and kill you for three games.

The problem with debating Synthesis is that pro-Synths want to start with the result and work their way backwards to justifying the path they took to get there. Cheating at solitaire, as I like to call it. Whereas the rest of us are trying to start with the decision point and work out the correct path forward using contextual information. Arguing is pointless when the two sides are coming at it from such different angles.

well that kind of logic is AKA "The end justifies the means."  and if you listen to the starchild...he explains that synthesis is something that can NOT be forced...so to say synthesis is forced on everyone is stupid

Do not be afraid. Synthesis is peace. Synthesis is salvation.

Synthesis is Stagnation.

Bioware or not, the Catalyst was pushing Synthesis pretty hard. That alone is near enough to put it to bed with a shovel.

I think it's wrong to label synthesis as stagnation. It says in the ending that they might reach "a level of existance I can't even imagine" this implies that synthesis is not a stopper for evolution rather it's a shot of nitro. At least that's my take on it.

I think alot of people see the catalyst as the enemy. I think that's short sighted but that's their call.

Maybe people see the Catalyst as the enemy because he - you know - controls the Reapers.  That group that destroys all advanced organic life every 50,000 years.

Just a thought.

But its the final evolution, thats it evolution has no place left to go, only stagnation is left, the stagnation may take place over centuries but it will happen.

Now if the catalyst had used the term "next stage in you're evolution" that would be a different story, but it didn't, it said Final.

@Krunjar

oh and at the ending of destroy hacket too says "together we can achieve a future greater then any one of us can imagine" so yeah , if you believe edi can tell the future and hacket can't then well thats your problem. Only difference between the two is that in destroy the races achieve it on their own whereas in synthesis the races need the reapers for it, and it is forced on them, easy and wrong

also saying ppl are shortsighted for thinking the catalyst is a enemy is kinda like me saying you are pretty arrogant for thinking you know whats best for ppl

I chose Destroy. Machines can be repaired... Control is god like to me and that is for the simple minded...and synthesis seems like something Hitler may have been interested in, it's a little to aryan for me.

Hey I said it was youre call. No need for personal attacks. Besides even though the catalyst says it's the "Final Evolution" Nothing can completely predict the future, Also the catalyst is an AI it's entirely possible that even he didn't understand the scope of synthesis. Also thinking you "know whats best for people" applies to any ending including refusal. Also I would not quite call making a choice that required the blood of most of this cycle and countless cycles before it to even make possible "easy".

Edit : By the rule of N*zi Analogies this topic is now over for me. Someone has been retarded enough to say "That's what hitler would have done" Peace Out!

was just saying it's like that, no personal attack. and it didn't take the blood of most cycle, only shepards, i mean that it is the easy way to achieve that future, so you don't have to work and learn on your own, it is given to you

Not emotional, it's a rule i live by comparing something to hitler or the N*zi's is always a retarded argument unless youre actually discussing ww2 or something. And people know it so once someone pulls that tired old horse out you know its not worth staying long. And just to clarify what I said before. I am talking about the lives it took from this cycle to even complete the crucible and get it in position plus the lives of the countless cycles before who designed and added to the crucible. Shepards blood may have triggered and been used for the synthesis but it took much much more than him to make it possible. And that really is my final word this time have funs :)
