1. Geth are software. They can upload themselfs in any platform that has enough processing power
2. Same with EDI. Her robotic body was just a platform like those of the geth. She is still existing in the Normandy.
3.In the epilogue of destroy ending we see spaceships. You CANNOT fly a spaceship without computers.
So hardware and software are not destroyed. You're welcome to proof me wrong.

EDI and the GETH are part-Reaper.
They most certainly die in the destroy ending. If you didn't romance Liara or Tali, you have to chose to either never see your LI again...
... or kill EDI.

Edi and the Geth died in Destroy. They are gone. No speculation there

Basically, the way I see it, EDI's dead and gone and the Geth are back to the point they were before the code was uploaded. However, the Geth can, on their own, advance to the point that they are individuals once more.
What makes you assume that?

The Geth are probably going to make it into the next ME game so, they will make it.

Legion was already developing (veeery slowly) into an individual through ME2. Also, as the Thanix proves, Reaper technology wasn't /that/ advanced.

Just how dead EDI is is impossible to know. If the bluebox isn't the Reaper tech and her databases are intact then she may be recoverable. If either of those are fried then she's gone.

I do so hope EA does this ... because Mac Walters will absolutely HATE that (yes, I'm petty).DRTJR wrote...
EDI is about as dead as dead can be.

Although I'm afraid the writers will convince the suits to make a prequel instead (yawn).

How does it distinguish synthetic life from other complicated machines, especially when some of the synthetic life is purely software that can run on platforms previously only used for non-AI purposes (quarian suits)? The only explanation is more Space Magic unfortunately.Krunjar wrote...
Destroy dousn't descriminate between reaper code and non reaper code. All synthetic life means ALL. Anything smarter than a VI is toast ... Period.

If the geth didn't die, 90% of people would pick destroy, as opposed to the 60ish% that do now

Space magic. It simply is. They are dead. Though BW could always retcon it in the future if they like.
