They only contains slight dialogue snippets. The DLC itself if comes into existance will I am almost positive both pre-ending and limited to mostly a self contained story regarding this Leviathon (meaning won't likely see him in the battle at end). The Lev will probably provide some war asset as token gesture but will be limited to information asset and not allie. I am sure Shepard will be forced to kill it or forced to kill it but I am not sure if will or not (probably a choice). However it will explain all the things the catalyst said did not have time to explain at the ending regarding the creators, first cycle and maybe following cycles, catalyst and itself.

I am 100% certain it will not lead to new ending, whether or not they pad out the current one for reject or not I do not know but if they do then it will more than likely limited to maybe seeing CGI or cutscenes of fleets going down in flames trying to fight conventionally however losing then worlds harvested maybe. Reject = win I think is never going to happen both from what many members of Bioware have said for very long time and including recently.

I don't think it'll give a new ending either. That'd be stupid anyway - to add a new ending via $8 DLC (or whatever).

Most likely Shepard may just mention Leviathan to the Catalyst.

Not really sure why it would be stupid. What would be the point of having something as important as a detecting reaper not affect the ending in any way. That would be stupid (and not worth buying, imo).

People who go out and buy the game (but not the DLC) wouldn't have the full story.

LotSB and Arrival were different, as ME2 very clearly ended. They were also very standalone in nature.

Spelling edit: defecting not detecting

Paid expansions and dlc that affect the ending are nothing new. Bioware has done it before. People who bought the disc have their endings. If these people are happy, let them be, if not, they can buy expansions or dlc.

I expect that all future DLC to come out (if any come out at all) will cost money. These things do require time and effort to create, which requires wages for employees. While I personally would obviously prefer free DLC (who wouldn't), it is an unrealistic demand of a player to ask for the developers to spend time working on a project without getting paid for doing so.

Regarding the EC and it's effect on the quality of future DLC: While DLC in the past has been of superb quality, I have noticed a rapid reduction of (highly opinionated here) quality in Bioware products over the last 2 years. I believe that changes in development teams and heads of projects has effected this quite a bit, as has the sharp decrease in development time. Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3 both had segments that felt extremely rushed in my opinion. While the EC tried to remedy such issues in the ending, it did so in a way that could have been superior.

On the topic of entitlement: First and Foremost I wish to point out that the EC was not given out freely by Bioware without a reason. It was used to help Placate fans who were pessimistic about the state of the company after the Endinng Debacle. It was a PR move to prevent company decapitation due to a large loss in fanbase. The Mass Effect Franchise is one of the largest Bioware fan bases of all time. To lose such a group of fans for any reason would be foolhardy. Please do not throw Bioware in a saintly light for it's actions here, it merely chose to do the wisest course of action.

As fans, we are entitled to demand whatever the heck we want. There is a hard counter to this of course... The Developers have the right to completely ignore each and every last demand we give of them. I could demand that an ending of ME3 be created where my Shepard saves the universe on the back of a reaperized unicorn trailed by a refracting rainbow... That does not mean the devs have to put it into the game (though I would pay money to see such an atrocious thing). In the same way, the developers are entitled to create whatever content they want and price it however they wish. We as the consumers merely get to choose whether we purchase said items.

This next DLC shall put a prospective on the value of the Mass Effect franchise after the EC is out. Whatever happens in it's sales shall surely effect all subsequent Mass Effect related products.

Not a chance and in all honesty it (or whatever the next SP DLC is) shouldn't be free. The first paid DLC will be the make or break point for ME3.

I agree. The future of Mass Effect series dependes on this.
I think it's better if it's a paid DLC. Paid DLC is always better.

Ive been looking through the script of the Leviathan of Dis DLC and have seen that it makes minor (maybe even large) changes to the conversation with the Catalyst at the end of ME3. Since this DLC will (most likely) explain the Reaper's history, motivations and everything else, do you think that EA will allow BW to release this DLC for free too?
Personaly, I believe that releasing this one for free too would be a real attitude changer for many fans towards BW.
Oh yeah, we also would learn the reasons why the citizens of the galaxy are being butchered every 50K years by giant pieces of semi-sentient sushi.

It probably will cost something, though I doubt I'd buy it unless it expanded on the endings (I don't mean "new" endings so much as new variables that might expand and change the outcomes of at least one of the ending choices).  I don't see much point to buying DLC that wouldn't affect that.  If it's just filler without consequence or purpose, I'd probably just save the cash and watch it on youtube.

It will most likely not be free. As people have said, EC was the exception because Bioware and EA were in damage control mode and knew that charging for it would have been catastrophic. MP might remain free so long as Bioware/EA continues to make money off the supply packs (people do spend a lot of money on that stuff).

And people really think that Leviathan will change the endings? The most it will most likely do is just add a few extra lines of dialog. While it would be awesome and speak volumes of Bioware's loyalty to their fanbase, they won't do anything more regarding the endings.

Sorry OP I doubt anything for mass effect 3 will be free from here on out. Honestly while I liked it being free I understand they aren't gonna make everything free and that is expected since they are a business

Bioware: "It's time to hit up the leftover suckas with overpriced SP DLC."

Personally, I'll be holding my wallet. Bioware doesn't deserve my money after EC travesty.

Probably not, but they already have an established revenue stream in the game. I'd like it to be free, but I seriously doubt it.

Won't be free (you're a fool to think otherwise) but if there are Batarians, My money is already yours, Bioware.

I think the important question is how many people will buy it? Leviathan DLC sales will probably determine how much effort they want to pour into further DLC.

And we're done here. Way too much bickering and flaming in this thread. The thinly veiled insults don't help, either.

End of line.
