We had terrible wave 8s until we blocked the extraction side and made it a missile wave. I could see how if we got the perfect spawns on missiles and some great objectives that 11 minutes might have been possible, but we just couldn't get those 10 second clears on missile waves each time. We only got a few of those waves.
Ironically, we got our best time pretty early in our runs today, when we were running a trial with lousy consumables since it was my and Hamiltoe's first runs on the plan. Too bad we couldn't get those 10 second clears regularly. I wonder if we shared our wave 8 strategy with you guys if it would gel into a near 11 minute run. But we would've had to figure out why the heck the game would spawn where we wanted them, or ruin us by spawning on the opposite side of the same area and not have an angle on it, or it would split. That one really baffled me. I think that's the most finicky map I've seen for how touchy it is about whether it spawns the right spot or not. Or we just were minutely off. It would be interesting to compare strategies and see what you guys did differently.
I've never been a big part of helping to strategize on speedruns until offering some of my thoughts in this tournament, and the Reactor hazard showed me just how much it mattered to take one wrong step in a direction and destroy a plan, or just facing the wrong way screwing up the spawns. I felt like we were steps away on this. But it might have been many steps since it seemed contingent on the minimally off movements of all four players' positions on all the waves.
Again, congratulations. What objectives did you guys get? We had targets twice and an escort on our best time. Not bad, but ate into our missiles for cleanup and on one missile wave.

I'm surprised that the winning time wasn't quite a bit faster. We only managed two runs at this and didn't have much of a strategy other than running round throwing grenades and rocketing things.

I'm not sure what objectives we got as I didn't feel the run went very well and it was an early friday run i believe. I think having 3 challenges this week made it difficult on all teams. Didn't get to play with the majority of my team this week like last week. I'll rectify that this week. We really didn't even attack this team challenge until friday. It was a pretty rough go of it from the start. I didn't think we would have the best time. We were actually trying to better it tonight when we should of been split into duo groups to improve on our times. Me and RNC had a bruting on wave 10 that probably added 20-30 secs on our best duo run. We had 9 waves survived up til that point.
@Tatty
I agree I thought the time would be better. Arc Grenades just devestate the geth so I thought trash waves would be pretty easy for everybody and I never felt that great about our rocket strategy. When it worked like it should it was great but the geth rarely cooperated with us. It was never very consistent.
@Team AreleX
I'll try to get a vid of it done tommorrow.
Agains congrats to all teams some impressive stuff being done.

Thats what you get when someone thinks its a good idea to do a run against the Geth lol. But so far I've successfully estimated the winning times on every run to within about 10 seconds based on our experiences from our first couple of games, except for this one. I thought the winning time would be about 30 seconds faster, let us agree to never play against Geth again
Keep up the good work everyone, I'm proud to call you all my brothers and sisters.

Bechter that is the new record. I'm curious how you did that. I wonder too how low you could get that with armored compartments and a better enemy.
We didn't record but if we can get wyldstar out of his drunken stuper ill do a run to record.
also where is this hall of records?
Ugh, well.. I'm sober now, begrudgingly, and really regretting this weekend. <_<
I haven't been on a 2-day bender like that since the Ravens lost the AFC champ game last year.. heh. I should be around late tonight after a LONG nap if you wanna get a run recorded.

I'll shoot you a message over BSN or xbox live, I should be able to do a run after 7pm my time. The strategy is fairly simple. You will need to play one of the grenade characters otherwise it will be worse than the krogan spot. 2 people basically did nothing for the majority of the waves.

GeekFest, No one told you? When I'm motivated at ME3 I break records apart of first team to break sub 10 in gold, sub 11 in plat, trio tuchanka, and geth london. Brahahaha.
No the real credit goes to my amazing team:wizard: Female Quarian for the winB)

We used the Demolisher, Male Quarian, Geth and the Volus. The run wasn't really that clean - I'm guessing we could have gone about a minute faster or so with better objectives. The key was getting most of the trash waves to spawn in a consistent point near the LZ. It was the fastest wave 1 I've ever been in without a rocket.
It took me about 5 runs to talk RNC out of his female quarian love.
Bechter "Rnc why you bringing the female quarian?"
RNC "Thought the human engineer tech bursts were to slow"
Bechter "What does she have going for her over other engineers?"
RNC "Cryo Blast"
Bechter "Cryo Blast!?
RNC "Either I freeze them or they dodge."
Bechter "K....?"

For as frustrating as the geth and these runs were I don't remember laughing as much at mass effect in quite some time.

ON the trash waves we tried forcing them where the rocket waves were and just keep arc grenading them but never got that to be consistent. Biggest problem I had though was always the objectives. So many devices.

For as frustrating as the geth and these runs were I don't remember laughing as much at mass effect in quite some time. There were so many epic fails and funny moments in our runs. rev's 3 rockets are not enough spawn nuke, RNC's cryo blast theory, RNC discovering Sabatoge for the first time, Your geth rage and angry southern venacular, Our 50% at best team member extraction ratio. and of course my rocket to the wall directly in front of me after explaining how i'm taking over the rocket position that everyone was having difficulty with. Good Times
I wish I had recording equipment to show my POV. I think whoever can record should take the position I was at for viewer entertainment purposes.

On that note, I am just not enjoying this tournament personally and wouldn't have signed up for it had I known it was going to be speedruns only. I apologize to my team for coming into this unprepared and that I am just going through the motions right now.
I really don't have another week in me for this game and decided it is time for me to call it quits. Sorry for anyone I am letting down, but IRL things have come up and there are just far more important things I need to be doing (I delayed as long as I could for this tournament). I am not going to be online at all after today for a good while (that includes BSN as well), so I may not see responses.
Anyways, I want to thank everyone from the group. I enjoyed my time playing with you all and have met some really great people during my time on here. I wish everyone the best and hope that whenever I decide to return to playing games that everyone will still be around to game with.

Sometimes you have to hide the weakpoints of the team for chance at victory.

By the way, I use a plasma tv, so I have a telephone booth ghost in the middle of my screen. It's really confusing when I'm watching Dr Who.
Geek Fest, are you hiring? I am pretty accurate at firing turrets across the map as a GE. I can also ...
I can fire turrets across the map accurately as the QFE too.
