Ran into Mythiic in a pick up game tonight. Really enjoyed playing with you even if you didn't hear us or speak, not used to good players randomly dropping in my lobbies.

lol i have been trying to get a game in with mythiic since this group started and he randomly joined you. man my hours suck!

Haha, sorry defleshing! I was showing a friend the ropes of speed runs and not having much luck with the pick-ups. Saw Mythiic hit the lobby and knew who it was right away. If it makes you feel better Mythiic didn't hear us or talk once and I managed to waste a couple missiles on the same spawn they hit cause we attacked it from different sides.

Still fun and not too bad with 22:41 platinum extraction with only Mythiic and myself hitting spawns with missiles, 1 person just learning it, and a random 4th with no mic.

I have played with a few people from the group, but I have a few casual friends I often play with that I have known for a while. I also sometimes enjoy the challenge of pugs due to the randomness and feel I improve myself more playing different styles. While my favorite is speed runs at the moment, there is no thrill on ME3 (at least to me) like clutching 1 or more waves that many others wouldn't be able to.

Bechter and myself were talking, and we had an idea to improve the overall skill level and enjoyment of the game for group members: in-game 'teaching' sessions.

A few times a week, Bechter, Relix, and myself could play with 2-3 group members (depending on if two of us are present/etc) doing speed runs or certain maps/chars/classes, and share what we know to teach people more about the game, the dynamics, and how things work.

The group is successful because (besides being named after the greatest player and most gorgeous man ever) everyone is willing to help each other out in the name of getting better and having more fun. If we show some people some things, and they share what they've learned with others, the whole skill level of the group rises as a collective.

We thought of this because we looked at some people whom we'd first met at the beginning of the group, and have seen how much they've learned and improved over a short period of time playing with us (like my boy Tatty), and see no reason we can't do the same for others. I feel like with this, we can help a lot more people step their game up by putting them on the right track.

Anyone interested? Questions/comments/concerns?

Honestly AreleX half of the people who post on THIS thread are already great players (usmc, tatty, mythiic, nilk ninja, geekfest etc.) You might be better off posting that in the Team AreleX Group Discussion.

This does sound like a great idea though. Might be a little awkward with timezone but having someone teaching the newer, less experience speedrunners could only help the team out.

Just another idea, why not post some live commentary vids of your lessons? It's easier to teach one guy three things and then share it on YouTube to reuse if the same questions come up then to just repeat yourself over and over again.

A "general tips" video might also help clear up some frequently asked questions and could give some insight on the spawnbudgets, spawn patterns and other in game mechanics.

EDIT: Love how you say "Bechter and me were talking" and casually throw Relix in the deep end

this thread is the central hub of the group. i don't even really check the discussion group unless i get a million prompts. plus, i made an offer for people who want it. if you don't, or think you're too good/already know everything there is to know, that's fine. same goes for anyone else.

if anyone wants the help, it is there for them. that is the point. if someone makes a genuine effort to learn and improve, i'll help them as much as i possibly can, on and off the net/game.

Not throwing relix under the bus or leaving him out. It was just a convo me and arelex had just know while relix was not with us (he is off fighting the dragons of narnia). Also during are discussion we talked about making instructional videos but also considered hands on lesson to be a great benefit to the group. Its also a way to interact with more people from the group and help new member integrate. Also we have no problem carrying lesser skilled players in a match I extend that gift to you everytime you are invited to one of my lobbies. :P

also, i've made tutorial videos before, goosh. i'm aware of how they work, and the kind of information they can effectively convey. the reason i'm offering this as opposed to a vid is because there are many things that are better taught first-hand, as opposed to watching a video.

i am always up for learning new strats and improving. as well as sharing any knowledge of the game i have acquired. you guys should really jump at the offer.. you would be insane not to take three of the best players in this game up on that offer. i can only imagine how much trial and error i could have saved myself had i met you guys when i first started playing this game. anyways anytime u guys have room send me an invite. if i can steal the tv away from my girlfriend ill join in.

Back on topic: I would indeed also suggest any of the newer players to jump at this offer. I learned alot a few months ago as I first begun speedrunning with AreleX, relix and Bechter outside of Team AreleX . They are great teachers. Besides who knows how long AreleX is gonna stick around? Reapers? HAH! Give him goblins!

Me, you, and two others really need to try and put up a 12 minute time with extraction soon. Since we would only be going for time, we could use two rockets on wave 7 and hopefully not get stuck with hack waves or the long escort one.

LIES!!! :crying:

Also, yeah, I think this is a great idea. I'm always happy to help people in any way I can, if they are willing to listen. Be it character builds, mechanics, strategy, or 101 in how (not) to get Gooshed.

I'd gladly offer my time to it if we could get someone to record them. I'd rather PC players don't go "No video no record" if we do break it, something that has been used far too often in this little war by both sides... Honestly the record will likely be broke with an excess Pizza Delivery objectives meaning only a few rockets will be used for 3, 6 and 10; freeing up more for 5/7/8/9 (and maybe one for 4 depending on how it rations out).

I have no interest in being carried but I do like improving my game. I can't carry a gold game past 7/8 with, uhhh, not so great pubbies, and have yet to get past wave 9 on Platnium while not playing with people from the group or smashing in the room of shame (lol). Problem is, when I do play with people from the group not a lot of strategy is being tossed about. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed playing with everyone (save g00sh :P ), but sometimes I feel like I'm being carried...

don't worry, i have no interest in carrying (relix and bechter give me bad enough hernias). i am interested in teaching the members of the group the tools they need to step their game up and be a competitor on any difficulty.

I know I am always looking for ways to be better and I like the idea. I know my main problem is not spawn nuking enough and that mainly comes from the pugs not even using a missile until at least wave 11.

This is something we discussed and we believe it's basically a lack of communication/missunderstanding between the players. Sometimes new players don't ask any questions and/or we assume they have a better understanding than they do. Also we don't want to sound pushy or overbearing. Basicallly would would like to shed more light on the matter and clear things up for as many players as possible so players can get fast clears and new gear before they go the way of the krysae.

I think this is a genius idea, I know that I've learnt so much from playing with you.  At first I felt like I wasn't good enough to roll with you but now I'm golden :)

No matter how good you are it is always good to play with players better than you and learn new strategies. Been really impressed with a lot of people in the group.
