 Hey all,

In the past two weeks, I've been getting an error every time I launch Mass Effect 3 via Origin. I did not have this problem until a few days before the Extended Cut DLC was available.

Up until today, I would get an error message immediately after I opened the game: "Launch error, Unable to launch...Please make sure this game is installed properly and try again." I would then close the error and the game would launch normally, without a problem. It was really just a small bug that I grew to ignore in the past two weeks.

Now, however, when I launch the game, it truly does not launch. Here's what happens:

(1) The error appears.
(2) I click "OK" to close the message.
(3) The game does not launch, but it appears in Origin. My status changes from "Online" to "Playing Mass Effect".
(4) I go into my Windows Task Manager to close the game. I try to end the actual process, but the process does not end.
(5) The process stays consistently at 256k of memory. It does not change.

I've restarted my computer several times without any luck.

If you have any ideas or suggestions, that'd be great. I'll be sure to answer any questions.

Much appreciated!

Have the exact same problem. Got excited when I saw a thread that explained the exact symptoms, and then let down when there were no responses.

Make sure when you go into task manager to find both EACoreServer and Origin, and right click and kill "process tree". Some parts are supposed to keep going after some closes. Don't know if that will have anything to do with it, but it is the way to truly restart it from scratch.

I had the exact same problem (error message, couldn't close
EACoreServer and Origin), then I found that it was my antivirus (in my case Avast antivirus update)

check this thread I made:

I am no longer seeing EACoreServer in the task manager, and so when I encounter this issue I have to hard reset.
