I was wondering if it will be possible for someone to make a mod to tone down the blood. Don't get me twisted, I love blood. But is it really necessary for it to come spurting out like old faithful with every hit? Does your character really need to look like he just got back from a GWAR concert after every battle? I am no game designer, but i would think that it wouldn't be too difficult for the blood to be generated from the sword edge and travel in the direction of the swing with just a small stream of blood. I can understand it gushing from a decapitation. But does it need to gush every time? I would almost rather have no blood unless a critical hit was made or something like that.

I personly like a realistic amount of blood. Its kind of weird if there wont be blood if you hit someone in the face with a big axe.

But it would be weird if you would hit against plate armor and get the same result. This should only result in blood if its some sort of sneak attack or critical hit.

Swords and Axes should cause more blood to be seen than a blunt weapon for sure.

I don't need to wait for the game to come out. I have seen plenty of combat gameplay footage and I have also read the GamesRadar write-up below

I really, really dislike all that blood. I don't like the blood dragon logo and that sound of it. It may make the game less enjoyable for me. There is a gore toggle for the gameplay but not for the cutscenes.

Well I would rather have too much blood and gore, than none at all. I am just hoping that someone is able to mod the core blood effects to tone them down a bit. As-well-as the amount of blood that splashes all over your character.

What is using blood well? Graphic violence does NOT make the world go 'round. It hinders progress.

I'm totally with you on that, It's the only thing that I consider seriously annoying so far, I truly wish a quick fix for this will soon take place.

It might be like in NWN where there is no, some, full, and extra. A scale. I'm guessing this is what you want? I don't have the game, but it wouldn't surprise me if there is.

I agree with the "too much blood" camp. Lately the marketing for Bioware games seems to be aimed at prepubescent boys :?  I understand that they want to pull in a new market, but all of the focus on heavy metal, unnecessary violence, and "oh man this $%*@ is HARDCORE!!!11!!1" is a pretty big turn off for me <_<

This much blood may get the game banned in Australia.

There is way too much blood. It's a bit like an Eastern RPG (think Lineage) where every footstep, swordclash and object in a battle generates sparkles and flashes to the point where you can't really tell what's going on anymore. Except in DA the sparkles are blood drops. I'm all for realism but geysers of blood with every sword stroke is not realistic.

Indeed. A blade to the chest doesn't magically turn a man into a waterfall of gore.

Maybe these poor fellows cannot afford good padding and have to fill their armour with tomatoes instead?

If there is no slider for blood, a blood reducing mod would be one of my first downloads. It's not realistic and takes away a bit of immersion to have NO blood at all - but those fountains I've been seeing in the vids are also unrealistic and completely exaggerated.

Can someone link me to clips/screenies that have 'fountains' of blood?

omg... ok, you changed my mind.  If I can set the Hawaii 5-0 theme to be the soundtrack for the entire game, I will not only keep the blood on, I may look for mods to make the violence even more gorey

Yeah, there were some great blood splats but really, none of that seemed like too much for me. A guy gets stabbed with a sword and there's a little shower of blood. I was expecting the typical anime hydro-pump shots of blood. :P

There are more vids, this is just one of them and the first I found. Opinions differ but to me, it's exaggerated.

Of course it's exaggerated. It's a style. Tarentino, Frank Miller, John Woo, they all turn violence into an art. It's aestheticization of violence and I like it. :)

As I said, tastes differ - I do not think the exaggeration of violence (read: the exaggeration of blood spurts) is an art form. And there is not really anything aesthetic about violence and blood in my eyes.
