I loathe the Revenant, even with the stability upgrades, its still a **** to control for me, so I've been using the Phaeston, which is good all round, but I want a powerful rifle with good accuracy. Suggestions? Thanks! Xx

Personally, The Mattock. for some reason it feels right. Also it becomes a Sniper Rifle with a scope. A perfect infantry weapon in my opinion.

Particle Rifle is insta-win. Extended Barrel, extended mags, and incendiary ammo. Upgrades for ammo should be damage, headshots, explosive.

This probably belongs in the Gameplay and Strategy forum.  But I'll address it anyway.

It all depends on what you're looking for in an assault rifle.  If you want full auto, then it's probably either the Revenant or the Phaeston, though even the Avenger isn't bad.  If you're willing to go semi-auto, then I'd say that the Mattock is probably your best bet, followed by the Vindicator.  And if you have Javik (and like cheesy weapons) there's the Particle Rifle.

Much more fond of Armor Piercing Mod and Extended Mag.  Like the incendiary ammo, though.

What's the best depends on the person. I prefer extremely fast cooldowns, making the lightest stuff best for me. What's your preference?

The Revenant is my favorite, you just need to fire it in short bursts or it goes all over the place

Geth PR for me. The thing is practically recoilless and holds a ton of ammo.  Does decent damage with mods and incendiary too.

Yeah, sorry about that! The Story/Campaign section is the forum I always visit and post on And thanks! I've never really bothered with the Semi's but I may as well try the Mattock then!

Failing that, I like the Mattock - decent weight and okay damage, you can space your shots for maximum accuracy or hammer the trigger for near-automatic rate of fire. The particle rifle is nice, but I generally found it a pain to try to hold the beam on the target for that long. The Sabre's also nice, but I dislike the recoil and time between shots. The Falcon's nice if you want something that can keep the enemy stunned. None of the automatic AR's really stand out as being that good to me; if I had to choose, I might say the Avenger (despite its overall weakness).

Well unless you're playing NG+, you don't get it until you're done with Sanctuary anyway.  It's great, but comes too late, as far as I'm concerned.

I used Piercing for my insanity run, but the game is so easy on the lower difficulties that I just go for raw damage. Full Hahne-Kedar armor and I don't even need to use cover on normal.

Again particle rifle is great. Carry it as single weapon and your cooldowns are great.

Thanks! I never really bothered with the Particle Rifle tbh, it didnt seem to do much damage when I used it! What mods did you use? Xx

It's pretty awesome, kinda like a cross between an sniper and an assault rifle in terms of power and how it operates.  Tons of damage per shot, but again, unless you're doing NG+, you just get it too late.

Yeah, its got massive damage. 3 hits take down a Brute. The time between shots is sort of long though, 2-3 seconds.
