Mass effect 1 is still the Best of the trilogy

2. I think this steadily improved, except replacement of Ash's face that was uncalled for.
3. ME 1 for creating a building a living universe connected to everything else, exploration Biotics that were awesome. My lvl 60 Adept never ran out of powers to cast! The ablity to give my teammates some armor I miss collecting that stuff and decking them in matching UNIFORMS like you know armys and merc groups do.
ME 3 for the Multiplay and smooth cover base shooter, and much improved over ME2 Biotic system. I still maintain each power should be independently castable.
4. The Reapers became the BORG from Star Trek,
5. EA.......

I'm playing through all three, right now my money is on Mass Effect 2 for the great characters, improved combat (the difference between 1 and 2/3), and great locations and side-quests.
First of all, the lip sync in Mass Effect 1 is about as proficient as the original Half-Life's. It's just bad. I don't know where you got that. Secondly, Mass Effect 3 really did offer your Shepard's story (perhaps not as much as 2), it just didn't conclude. You had all the ingredients in place - cure/sabotage the Genophage, Rannoch, etc. - but you never get any conclusion as to how the galaxy is affected by Shepard after his death.
Anyways, what I miss about Mass Effect 1 isn't the writing, which was a bit forced and hole-y. It certainly wasn't the combat, which was punishing and dull. It wasn't the equipment system, which was a headache. It wasn't even the skill system which, while more RPG-ish than 2 and 3, offered benefits that were really quite minor per point.
What I miss about Mass Effect 1 is that feeling of exploration. You don't get that in many modern games. Everything is set, you know everything there is to know about your world, you're given a weapon and told to kill the bad guys. Mass Effect 1 offered uncharted worlds, exotic planets, and ancient ruins. There were ancient Prothean skyscrapers, towering over the clouds, and long-abandoned labs where the remains of a lost race remained in stasis modules. The Protheans were an enigma, a mind-boggling mystery - the scene with Vigil was one of the best moments in the series (and then, Javik ruined that enigma). Then the Reapers were intimidating. Unknowable. If only there was a single Reaper that could match Sovereign. He was the perfect villain. He told us he had a reason for killing us, but our minds couldn't comprehend it. We existed because they allowed it, and we would end because they demanded it.
The general feel of Mass Effect 1 is something that no game has ever captured, before or since. But from a literary perspective it had some shakey plot development and poor characterization. From a gameplay perspective... ha.
THIS
Yeah, pretty much this.
Yes...exploration was the big plus point...also I liked the seemless transitions...but I like ME3 the most because it was more emotional... but everyone has its prefrences...you can not make an absolute statement...their all great in their own rights.

mass effect 3 overall was good but we all know how much better it should have been...id say it has the best comedy by far in the series for me {not that thats very important}
BUT MASS EFFECT 2 is the best IMHO......it did have the best overall cast of characters, when it came out it seemed like such a detour from me1 and it was just as creative and fresh as me 1 was BEING A SEQUEL TO IT, so thats saying something.....the very in depth character development tying into the suicide mission and everyone being able to die-awesome.....it just had a very well done and satisying finale w/ the sm and that is always huge in any story or game.....it also had scale, there were 3 hub areas, toug you knew the destination it remained compelling and suprising and had many twists and suprises while advancing the overall story of mass effect in BELIEVABLE AND SATISFYING WAYS.....so theres more, but Im done....

I still love Mass effect 2 and 3 don`t get me wrong but there`s something about the original that gets my blood pumping. Maybe its shepards crazy adventures in the mako or that the series wasn`t so tainted with negitivity like it is right now.
(remember there are NO wrong answers)
1. Anyone else missing the mako?
2. Did anyone else notice that the facial animations and lip syncing are actually better in mass effect 1 or is that just me?
3. Which mass effect game in the trilogy is your favorite ? and why?
4. The reapers where machines then they became cyborg terminator rip offs. What happend? (please answer)
5. What the hell happend to MY shepards story in mass effect 3 ? Bioware said it was their story of MY shepard....WTF?
1. no
2. dont know, but at least there aren't stupid rape smiles....
3. ME1 ofcourse... ME2 started a stupid reaper orgins ( salvation through destruction), reload **** (ja the prothians were OK with the overheating but we don't, and how the characters reload their guns ridicouls), you just duck behind cover and you can take a nap, gobal coldown, ME3 was bad because they finished their stupid reaper orgin and the starchild ****
4. rEApers, casey hudson assumed direct control
5. I never felt like he as my characters I think it is because of the stupid dialog wheel but he was the closest to it in the ME1
5.

2. Did anyone else notice that the facial animations and lip syncing are actually better in mass effect 1 or is that just me? I definitely think the lip syncing was best in that one ... not sure about animations.
3. Which mass effect game in the trilogy is your favorite ? and why? ME1. Largely because I had hope then ... it's a good story, and it ends happily (although not without loss) and the galaxy isn't boned. I got to know my squadmates, 'cause I didn't have 1000s of them yet, and I hoped that I'd have a story worthy of the epic and that my being a Spectre would matter in ME2 ... then I got railroaded into working for Cerberus and my Spectre-status was irrelevant, and my best friend/LI wasn't even in the game except to yell at me for being railroaded into working for Cerberus on Horizon, and ... well. There were things I liked about ME2 and 3 ... graphics in 2, combat rolls in 3 ... okay, that's mostly it.
4. The reapers where machines then they became cyborg terminator rip offs. What happend? (please answer) Not sure ... I feel like all the producers and writers of ME2 & 3 went to some Emo indoctrination camp or something.
5. What the hell happend to MY shepards story in mass effect 3 ? Bioware said it was their story of MY shepard....WTF? Ugh ... I refer back to Question 3.

No. The Hammerhead was simply better purely because it could actually move at speed, and the environments were inspired and not 20 copy-paste mountain-filled planets.
2. Did anyone else notice that the facial animations and lip syncing are actually better in mass effect 1 or is that just me?
I felt ME2 was actually the best for lip-synch. There were times in ME1 and ME3 where lip-synch being off broke my immersion.
3. Which mass effect game in the trilogy is your favorite ? and why?
Mass Effect 2. It had the most diverse squad, it had recruitment missions and loyalty missions, which were all unique. The universe felt the most intriguing in ME2. I really wanted to go to Omega and Illium.
That Suicide Mission. Loved it.
4. The reapers where machines then they became cyborg terminator rip offs. What happend? (please answer)
The Reapers were always terriblely written. Cthulhu rip-offs, especially in ME1. I didn't play Mass Effect for the Reapers. I even think Cerberus were infinitely more interesting - even though they were botched in ME3.
5. What the hell happend to MY shepards story in mass effect 3 ? Bioware said it was their story of MY shepard....WTF?
BioWare, for some reason, don't seem to be capable of following choices through to their consequences. It's not resources, The Witcher 2 managed it fine. In short, Shepard was never our story.

I just restarted ME1 and got to the first planet, driving the Mako and walking around on it. Feros? I think. (Not at home right now. It's the one with the "monkey-like creatures that stole a data module"...) I had forgotten how awesome that was, just exploring planets. Although it got a little tedious later on in my other playthrough, it's still a lot of fun. Wish they hadn't removed it from 2 & 3, and the Overlord (?) DLC, where you get the Hammerhead, was one of my favorite ME2 missions. It's just one of the coolest experiences getting to travel around on the surface of an alien world, exploring.tobin1455 wrote...
The thing I liked most about ME1, playing it on PC with ultra settings, was just walking around planets with my view turned up into the stars.
I'll be playing the ME series many times over, over the next decade or so. Hopefully another company will get the inspiration to make another planet-exploring, galaxy-saving game with awesome story and conclusion in the near future. Somebody's got to want to make it... anyone?

ME1 I loved that it took your paragon/renegade into consideration and offered different missons based on that. Loved the different type of amour that you got in the game and how you could your armour/weapons
ME2 loved the story and how the ship upgrades and how you treated your allies mattered also if you upgraded there weapons felt like you where in more control.
I couldn't pick between them two

1. Nope not at all. Horrible handling, terrible environments.
2. No actually I thought it got better not worse.
3. 3 because it ties everything together.
4. I don't see that at all. I loved the Reaper foreshadowing in ME and do not see the cyborg ripoffs. They always used organics, the creations just got bigger and better as each game progressed.
5. Well to be fair it was always their story but my Shep and his choices were still there.

Mass Effect 1 is the only good game in the series; in large part because it actually has a coherent plot.

I loved the Mako. I loved the attempts to create a seamless world with the airlocks and, yes, the elevators. I loved a carefully crafted universe with real science used to justify fantastic elements. I loved how everybody wore proper armoured suits. I loved the attention to detail. I loved the feel of the SR-1. I loved Sovereign and Saren, both in their respective ways effective antagonists. I loved the final battles. I loved the ending.
I loved Mass Effect 1, and I believe that's because it's developers loved it too, and it shows.
It may not have been perfect. Nothing is, but it was a genuinely gratifying experience from beginning to end.
This post sums up my feelings perfectly. Mass Effect is my faviorite game, not just the series. The ending in particular was so beautifully done. And it felt like a victory.

Out of them all, only Legion and Mordin were good.
And there wasnt any real banter between them, making them to puppets. Pokemon in Space..

I think overall ME2 was the best from a purely game mechanics standpoint. But, I agree, ME1 was the best experience. For me, ME1 was right up there as one of the best games I'v ever played.
Agree with you.
ME1 had the best story, writing, atmosphere and overall experience.
ME2 has a much better combat system, good cutscenes and introduces a lot of great characters.
ME3 is far and away the weakest of the 3 games by a huge margin. The only improvements are made in combat.
