I loved ME1, it introduced every character and alien race in a great manner and explained everything very thoroughly. Infortmation was available on how this and that worked. ME2 though in my opinion improved everything that was kindof "meh" in ME1, like hacking and breaching doors, combat, visuals... you also got to see places that were only spoken of in ME1 such as Tuchanka, and removing the "unnecessary exploration" was a relief to me.

1. While I thought it was cool to explore planets from planetside, it was mainly just a waste of time. I liked mako very much when it was used as a proper means of transportation, such as in the mission at Feros.

2. I think it's just you. The animations are still quite the same to the other games, and the occasional conversation bugs being in every part of the trilogy.

3. The second one. It expanded on the great universe, it improved and it worked really well. It felt really polished and is a worthy sequel to the great, first game.

4. I don't know. I had a sort of stress going on every moment I played ME3, seeing the amount of Reapers growing in the milky way. This was only my first playthrough when I experienced this, though. Now I know that time doesn't really matter lol.

5. Well I guess you know the best what happened to your Shepard.

Nah, I don't really think so. It's the most atmospheric and mysterious, but not the best.

1. The shooting is mediocre and so are the controls. Very stiff.
2. Using biotics and other powers isn't nearly as fun for some reason.
3. Many of the sidequests are pretty bland. At least they have actual dialogue.
4. The story is too short. But I guess that a good thing, in a way.

I like that there are multiple routes through many of the missions, and Noveria really is the BEST MISSION OF ALL TIME! An excellent example of flawless mission design.
It's an amazing game that's for sure.

Personally I preferred ME2, but in story I would agree.

It's a good second place in the trilogy but ME2 is hard to beat by any game.

No, Me1 is the last game in my list, first comes Me2 > Me3 > Me1, i nearly skipped the Mass Effect series  because of Me1 (stopped playing after about 3 1/2 hours), i was lucky to try Me2 someday, which totally changed my mind about this franchise

ME3 is far and away the weakest of the 3 games by a huge margin. The only improvements are made in combat.

That is wrong. Mass Effect 3 has the best banter in the series, equal to Dragon Age. Squadmates actually talk with eachother on the ship.
It really shows how pathetic Mass Effect 2 is despite beeing focused on characters.

The only thing ME1 still does better is exploration. Story/Gameplay it has been surpassed.

THIS!

Minus tedious Citadel "gopher" quests of ME 1.

I'm gonna go with ME2. Characters and combat were way better in 2 than 1

I liked ME2 the best. The characters were better written and had more depth, and the galaxy was fleshed out a lot more. Cerberus and TIM were brilliantly written, and the Suicide Mission is still perhaps the greatest final mission I've ever played.

ME1 was fun, but its real saving grace is the excellent third act. Its second act is abominably dull. With the exception of Wrex, I didn't really find myself caring for any of the characters. And as much as people complain about the Baby Terminator, it's nowhere near as retarded as a giant goddamn planet-sprawling plant that spits out clones of Asari commandos fully equipped with weapons and armour.

To all of you "space magic" haters out there, wouldn't Saren being possessed by Sovereign be considered such?

Uh oh, I'm speaking ill of ME1! BLASPHEMY!

Why this was space magic??
Sovereign "improved" him and take control of those parts after his dead.

I loved the Mako. I loved the attempts to create a seamless world with the airlocks and, yes, the elevators. I loved a carefully crafted universe with real science used to justify fantastic elements. I loved how everybody wore proper armoured suits. I loved the attention to detail. I loved the feel of the SR-1. I loved Sovereign and Saren, both in their respective ways effective antagonists. I loved the final battles. I loved the ending.

I loved Mass Effect 1, and I believe that's because it's developers loved it too, and it shows.
It may not have been perfect. Nothing is, but it was a genuinely gratifying experience from beginning to end.

Seriously! See my above note about a living world. So yeah, the elevators were slow and airlocks were annoying to some. But it all added to the experience. i walked into an airlock before i got on my ship, I waited in an elevator and listened to the galactic news, or heard my squadmates banter. It all added life to the game, how could watching a load screen add to immersion?

The first playthrough, the elevators and airlocks weren't horrible. They were still tedious but at least there was some extra dialogue to listen to -- sometimes.

On subsequent playthroughs, when you've heard all the dialogue and news stories, the elevators and airlocks become excrutiatingly boring.

Whatever they might give you on the first playthrough does NOT make up for what they put you through on subesequent playthroughs.

Also, this thread again, really?  I suppose BSN will never tire of this discussion.

Each game is great in its own way. Overall story and pacing I give to ME1. ME2 has the best variety of missions, I loved all of the DLC and recruit + loyalty quests. ME3 has the best gameplay, I love how the character moves, combos, and the look of my guns.

It was the most fun, but it has no replay value due to how old it is. So I'd have to say Mass Effect is the best of the series. A very immersive game

Rose colored glasses are rose colored.

It wasn't a bad game at all. It's still a lot of fun. But you need to remove the glasses.

1. Anyone else missing the mako?
2. Did anyone else notice that the facial animations and lip syncing are actually better in mass effect 1 or is that just me?
3. Which mass effect game in the trilogy is your favorite ?  and why?

4. The reapers where machines then they became cyborg terminator rip offs. What happend?  (please answer)
5. What the hell happend to MY shepards story in mass effect 3 ?  Bioware said it was their story of MY shepard....WTF?

1. Yes. It wasn't the fastest or the easiest to control, but damn was it fun to drive. R.I.P. Mako, 2007-2010.

2. I disagree. I think the facial animations are best in ME3. You can see small muscle movements and contractions.

3. Personally, ME2 is my favorite. The disconnect from the Reaper plot was one of its strengths, IMO. The Reapers are fairly weak as a narrative motivation.

4. The Catalyst happened.

5. Autodialogue happened.

Taking remote control of cybernetic implants and robotic components is hardly space magic.
