Kai Leng going from an intelligent methodical assassin -think Evil thane- to a run of the mil space ninja who was as subtle as a concrete block and was just there to give Shepard another needless accomplishment

Jacob Taylor, your honest heavy lifter, a Man of principle being reduced to a mix of Kanye and chris brown if you were Femshep and Romancing

The countless  side characters that got Email'd, Twitter'd or just forgotten after you went through the trouble to keep them alive.

or was it my Man Harbinger going from loud and proud  to barely getting a line.

Shepard got it the worst, IMO.

Jacob.

The *fans* are to blame for that though. The constant bashing of Jacob after ME2 all but guaranteed that his role in ME3 would be small. I do feel sorry for the people who had him as an LI though, and who actually liked the character. They kind of got the shaft by virtue of a larger number of people disliking him.

If it was reduced role that be one thing

My problem is Jacob's entire loyalty quest revovles around being a man of principle
and if you didn't romance him Then his role is fine in ME3

If you did well ... "We cool right Femshep?" that and Jacob the tough soldier/biotic is taken out by measlely grunts

Jacob, Thene, Kal'Reager, Miranda, Jack, Kasumi, Emily Wong...

Ok, no, I would have been FINE with Emily Wong's death by Twitter if Space Snookie didn't exist....

Are you implying that's the only reason they killed her off

Femshep got screwed in the romance department, you either had to have a pre-established romance, Kaiden not be dead or be a lesbian(which isn't what i'm complaining about), I don't like the fact that they added in extra female LI, but no male LI is just very dissapointing

I have no idea why they have Dianna Allers at this point. ME1 and ME2 got 90s out of 100; many people called it the greatest game series yet. Doing something like this for better reviews seems illogical.

The issue there comes down to that they had a perfectly well loved by the fanbase Reporter from ME1 who was never brought up again and then we're given a brand new Reporter Character voiced by a real life "reporter" (debatable) with a HORRENDIOUS VO Job that is almost unanimously hated by the entire fandom and a "Love Interest" (debatable), the shallowest of ALL the Romances.

Looking at only Emily Wong's Twitter Death, she goes out killing a Reaper. Not the greatest exicution of such a death but I've seen much worse before.

Add in Allers and I get a really bad taste in my mouth.

So, no. Emily Wong got the worst. She didn't get sidlined or treated horribly, SHE GOT REPLACED.

I never got the Jacob-hate in ME2. I mean, that guy was not that special but also not bad. Jacob was a normal guy amongst abnormal badasses, so to speak. You got a drell assassin, an insane biotic girl, a genetically engineered femme fatale, a krogan teenager, an ex-STG operative ... do I need to go on? In the bunch of misfits, Jacob was the most normal guy, kinda a calm center.

That made him looking boring, but in fact, he wasn't.

I'm sad what BW did to Jacob in ME3. Especially since fem!Shep players are restricted to Garrus and Kaidan, if they want a happy ending for their straight romances. man!Shep has a lot more options here ...

So speaking of screw jobs:

Jacob - cheating dude with no character anymore, sidemission can be missed easily
fem!Shep - lack of straight romances
Ashley - lack of content outside her romance arc, "Cerberus issues"
Miranda - reduced to a few scenes and "Oriana, Oriana, Oriana" issues
Thane - at least he had a moment of awesomeness
Kai Leng - hollow, boring character that lacks any substance
Grunt, Jack, Samara - can be missed easily by not doing their mission, nearly zero interaction
Morinth - a semi-character got reduced to a Banshee
Zaeed, Kasumi - DLC characters with a handful lines, both missions on the Citadel

Ugh.

Actually, Fem!Sheps are limited to Kaidan (less he died on Vrimire or the Citadel), Liara, or Trayner. Garrus has to have been romanced in ME2 for there to be a romance in ME3.

Legion - lack of interactions, canonical death, death scene felt rushed and forced

Really? I actually liked his death. Sure, there's nothing you can do about it, but it isn't lacking in a reason for it. Had me tearing up a lot. Thane's Death occurs because Kai Leng imposes Cutscene Incompetence on anyone near by.

@ Mesina: sorry, forgot Legion. Of course you're right.

Also Giana Parasini, Kal'Reegar, Emily Wong ...

I know it's impossible to deal with ALL characters in a way their fans are satisfied, but BW wasn't even trying.

With half of these, and I know many will throw a tomato here, They could have just made them a war asset and called it a day. Certainly a better pay off for befriending Giana Parasini or saving Kal'Reager.

Saved the Quarians (and Geth)? Here's Kal'Reager and Veetor for saving them in ME2!

That's what happens when the game with most characters and their plots to give and end to gets the least development time of all three. Also, I miss a lot of investigate to satisfy the curiosity I might have, like asking Samara/Falere more about the monestary and its inhabitants, or why the councillor was this friendly towards Aria, etc...

I would have loved to know more about the Ardat-Yaksi, espicially since that scene is a bit confusing with what Samara said back in ME2 about them. The Aria thing, I just took that as simply she has friends in high places and the government is corupt, nothing really more.

The whole game screwed everyone and everything. Except Liara and I don't like Liara, but even then I'm sure one of the blue berry fans can step in and say why Liara wasn't tailored to their interests.

I posted this in the Ash thread last night but it annoyed me so much that I'll post it again. After getting Kaidan back on the ship after the coup he has a full conversation with the dialogue wheel and even a renegade interrupt. Ashley meanwhile gets a "Good to see you"... Like WTF?! Kaidan also goes into the crew quarters, the lounge, and down into engineering and talks with Adams. Ashley never leaves her room except for the romance scene.

That said, Ashley still got better treatment than a lot of other characters so I guess I can't complain too much.

@BP93

Ashley has one extra full dialogue on the citadel which Kaidan doesn't have so that's why he gets that one.

Edit: But he does leave his room more often than Ashley.

Well that's my point, he's much more "lively" on the ship than Ashley is.

I could mention a few but Morinth springs to mind.

It was pretty hard to get her to join your squad in ME2 but to me her story was so intriguing. I wanted to know so much more.

But in ME3 she got NOTHING. A little email to say she'd left and then a 'cameo' as a Banshee. I didn't want to kill my Morinth :(

Yeah, but that's how bioware screw us over. They say they are all about the fans but there not, they do as there told. By other people, who don't care about us.

But if I had to choose who got screwed over most.
Male- thane, Jacob, Grunt.
Female- Jack, Miranda. (Morinth as well, never really had her in my squad however).

Squad members in ME3
-Ashley, Kaidan. And maybe Garrus and tali. But they had a fair amount of dialogue I think.
