You forgot one detail OP:

Lesbian sells
Gay doesn't sell

That said I wish they designed Asari to be asexual (No distinction between male and females) and not mono gendered (Only females).

Go google how Orks reproduce in Warhammer 40k.

They reproduce via spores, which would make them asexual, and closer to being female than anything. They are not an all male species.

I prefer that they be all female, as it makes them seem more plausible to me. There are numerous examples of all female species in the animal world.

They talk of females, BioWare are just lazy.
We've never heard of a Batarian female, however..

There are female Batarians in the novels, they're not mono-gendered.

Again, Bioware prioritising giving Jessica Chobot a creepy shagable cameo rather than doing anything to fix the fact that about half of an entire established species is missing.

Really hope we get female Turians and Batarians in DLC, especially if it can add a few of them as background models to the Citadel. And not halfarse them like they did the Krogan and Salarian females, Batarian and Turians have noticeable gender dimorphism according to the books and Garrus.

As for an all male race, then yeah, 40k's Orks would work. Sure they're pretty much anphropermorphic fungus, but they're about as male personality and appearance wise as you can get.

For the same reason the samantha traynor romance has far more views on youtube than the cortez one and far fewer dislikes, even though the steve one was actually more romantic.

Short answer: Male Gamers have a lot of growing up to do.

SimKoning is a case in point. He said he would 'not be comfortable with an all male race.

Im not comfortable with an all female race, but that doesn't stop people like him, so why should his view stop there being an all male species.

You sir are why gay rights are going to be held back for years.

Cheers ^^

I agree, except I think SimKoning's objections were just about the plausibility of an all-male species existing. Asari are fine because something something parthenogenesis. I always did terribly in biology classes so I can't comment.

I didn't expect to have to give a serious response to this topic. But this.

Orks are plants. They resemble males because they're bulky, muscular and don't need any of the traditional biological elements needed for motherhood.

The Asari are female because they have to give birth.

An all male race can't exist because you need tobe able to birth and raise the kids.

Well I guess something like how the aliens from Alien reproduce might work. But you'd have a hard time having an all male race be anything other then the bad guys.

I figure that an 'all male' race could be male as a default, but through some biological mechanism 'become' female long enough to reproduce, possibly even a voluntary one.

What, it makes just as much sense as asari reproduction.

Seehorse males are the ones who are pregnant and  give birth to their children.

It's Adugan, nothing else of note can really be expected..

Just read the first book they make mention of a female batarian.

They could just use space magic like the asari do.

Parthenogenic all female species of vertebrates and arthropods actually exist... there is no such thing as an all male species, because it's impossible.

You mean like half robot DNA and FTL travel?

An all male species that can reproduce is on par with a circular square. Molecular nonotechnology and FTL travel at least makes sense within the contex of the setting.

Go google how Orks reproduce in Warhammer 40k.

Orks reproduce via spores. They are not an all male race. And most importantly, WH40k is as space magicy as one can get.

Seahorses are not an all male species, and they are only capable of getting pregnant because the females put their eggs in the male's ...pouch, I guess. There is no species known to me that has males with working ovaries (or something analogous) without those being provided by the female counterpart first.

It doesn't really matter if the "gay race" is technically not all-male. Asari aren't "technically" female.

The only thing that matters is that they LOOK totally masculine and require sexual intercourse to reproduce. It could be more of a psychological experience than a physical one (a la Asari).

After all, it's the physical attributes that turns women and gay men on, not whether or not they're actually a plant, haha.

Seahorse males do not lay the eggs and they still produce the sperm. Seahorse males are also only about as pregnant as having a marsupial-like pouch makes you. All they have is a handy-dandy belly pouch to brood the female's fertilized eggs in.

It's no different than some species of mouth-brooding fish where the females brood for half the time and then transfer the eggs to the male's mouth for the final stage of mouth-brooding the young.
