I had an idea for a species that was all male. They would reproduce by impregnating a host, and their offspring would use the host as a mother, adapting to the mother's own DNA, and masking its own. When it is born, it looks like the mother species, but during puberty, it metamorphoses into the father species. The children could be male or female at birth, or some third sex, it matters not. 

I based this idea off the idea of incubus demons and changelings. I still think it could be cool, if technobabble could be written to explain it.  

I like that idea...it's freaky!

The only way I could see this kind of thing occuring is if they were some kind of reversal of the deep sea angler fish species where the male is essentially a tiny parasite that attaches itself to the female and becomes a tiny little sperm sack that lives as just a bump attacked to her for life.

Maybe this male species has females that are similar. They attach to males and become essentially ovary sacks that eject eggs into a male brooding pouch like seahorses have. Perhaps, the males have to engage in a sexual ritual to stimulate egg production and release like certain all-female lizard species have to engage in sex to stimulate parthenogenesis.

There you go - a plausible all-male (mostly) species.

The above quote is actualy wrong. Seahorse males are actually closer to mamals in that they have a pouch in which they store the fetilized eggs. It's like if you hung a chickens eggs from a roosters neck in a bag.

And to those that are suggesting that I am biased due to homophobia... nice strawman. No, I don't like the idea because I prefer they keep the amount of absurdities to a minimum in science fiction

The Asari would be females if they evolved from hominid analogs that reproduced sexually. The males could have been killed off by some natural disaster or plague.

And no, if all the males died in any species, that species would be screwed. You cant evolve past two genders in a single lifetime of that species.
