I have found the boots and the gloves and am now in the ruins (I know theres another piece to get out in the forest as well at a tomb stone) I understand that there is a tablet in a sarcauphogus in the ruins that has a solution to the puddle of water/alter part of the quest. I believe I have it however the tablet  is called "tablet" (not elven tablet) under it's description it says it has pictographs on it. It is labeled as generic.  There is nothing beyond that (no description or writings of solving the quest etc).  I found it in the same sarcauphogus that the gift item was in.  I'm going back out to the forest to see if getting the 3rd piece opens the quest up for the breast plate. Does it need to be done in order?

I think that it does, but I'm not sure. I just finished that on my first playthrough, and I killed all of the revenants before attempting the ritual to get to the chest piece.



Also, protip: save before attempting the ritual, because if you are daft like me, one misclick can end up with you loading a save file that is way too far back.

no it doesn't need to be done in order. there's one tombstone in the first area of the forest..that if you go to it first you can't interact with it...have to go to second area of the forest and get the quest from one of the two tombstones there and then go back.



save before you try the ritual..it can become bugged and not work.

There should be Codex or Journal(the Mage's treasure) entry for the steps to get ritual done.



Anyway it goes like that:



SPOILER



Take the earthen jug from the fountain and fill it with water.

Place the full earthen jug on the altar.

Kneel before the altar and pray.

Take a single sip from the earthen jug

Take the earthen jug.

Dump the remaining water from the earthen jug into the fountain.

When I have done the praying I get quest fail. ennemy's spawns. I can never get to the point where I can take a sip out of the water

Hmm I think you have to "examine the jar" at some point before taking the sip of the water. I screwed it up once I think, but nothing happened, I just dumped the jar back in the fountain and repeated the whole process.



You cant get that part without finding the Elven Ritual codex inside the ruins in sarcophagus if I remember correctly.

Where is the sarcophagus? I think I've broken this quest on my first go through.

(Praying in front of a full jug on the altar just makes it spew out its contents in green fog - no option to sip. Also, during one of my many attempts to figure this out, it said 'you have activated a trap' and I fought two undead. Also, I never found a tablet in a sarcophagus, and the first tombstone in the west forest is covered with black thorns and does not work.)

EDIT: Nevermind about the sarcophagus tablet, I went back and found the room where I had missed it, and that got me to the breastplate.

I'm still not sure about that tombstone in the west forest though - I don't have the helmet from there because the tombstone won't activate.

Seems you have to do tombstones first (all 3), then find the tablet and then do the jar/breastplate in the end.

What if youve acciedently sold the tablet is there anyway to get the tablet back
