But it is proven time and time again in Mass Effect lore and ingame, that the Reapers cant be won with brute force and military prowess. The Crucible is the key to their destruction, and Shepard knows this. Everyone knows this. There's no metagaming involved in that.

The codex says otherwise.
Also, I said "find another way". Another use for the Crucible. Another way to beat them. Anything.
Shepard would not just give up and settle.

the only good thing about Synthesis is that everyone is now a Cyberman. and they'll go around shouting "Delete" and "Excellent" while clenching their fists.

And in fist fight they are all shouting
"Neutralize"

"Destroy"
"Destroy"

Because it's going against my personal beliefs, about life, death, self accomplishment, society. Pretty much everuything. Refusal is a holy gift compared to this.

Without clairvoyance. Nobody's Shepard.
Or does your Shepard readily believe the word of a Reaper with nothing to back it up?

Why are people so anti-harmony and anti-understanding? Why are all these considered as bad feats? I think someone needs to fire up a crucible in here :P

Well, I'm gonna end my part here by quoting smething I already posted in another thread:

"I will say that even as a pro-synthesis person, I would definitely be able to smile if Bioware comes up with a Mass effect "4" where destroy will have turned out to be the "best" option after all. That Shepard lives, synthesis was the option an "indoctrinated" Shepard would have chosen and from there on, everything will sort of start from scratch. (I left EDI and the Geth's fate out of this picture intentionally).

All I really know is that I want the ME games to continue. Somehow, somewhere and sometime!"

You don't have the right to FORCE change on sapient beings. Nobody does. Do it to yourself. Leave others alone.
I say that as a transhumanist.

See my Cyberman quote.

Everlasting unity. According to it.
One person's utopia is another's nightmare. If you have to force understanding, it is not understanding.

Synthesis and forcing go hand in hand, that's the whole problem.

The Geth say they are willing to die to stop the war after the Rannouch (spelling?) arc. If you pick destroy they die free, as individuals and to save the galaxy (what they said they would be willing to do.) You don't betray them, you take them up on their offer.

Yes it sucks, and they will be remembered in my playthroughs, always. They died free, as individuals and to end a terrible war that would have cost us so much more.

So my Shepard needs clairvoyance now? When will you stop making this stuff up, when there SO much ingame to back it up? Continuing something that has been proven wrong by so many different facts, yet persisting on saying it's possible, is borderline insanity.

I don't like synthesis for 3 main reasons:

1-DNA is a specific molecule, you can't change DNA without it become some other molecule. On top of that, some non-human races will most likely not use DNA as their genetic information storing molecule, it's like saying "I will change all the methane in the galaxy!". Am I beeing too geeky here? Maybe, but ir irks me, and my Shepard mistrusts any nearly omnipotent being that has no idea of basic biochemistry.

2-Is aesthetically ridiculous, now DNA is Q-tips with circuits? and the only physical changes are cool tatoos and glowing eyes? Have some bravery, Bioware, turn the people into husks, maybe prettier husks, but husks, because that what you get when you combine organic and synthetic. Of course that would make your happy pink pony ending a bit more disturbing.

3-EDI looks the same!! What's the deal with that? I was expecting some delicious organic EDI boobage.

I don't care what Gamble says.

He said that we can refuse of using the crucible.

He said, that according to him, "synthesis" was the best ending:

It's his choise, you have problem with that? You think he should choose Refuse, because you think it's best?
Everyone should have a choice, you can't pull one size fits all. If I want to Destroy the Reapers, I'll do it. If I want to control them, I choose Control. If someone wants to Refuse, he can do it. There will always be people who will say that their choice is correct and your not.
Anyway, all remain in their beliefs and head-canons.

I don't think people understand synthesis

it doesn't change them into zombies under reaper control.

it is kind of like having cybernetic implants.

it doesn't alter peoples functions or how they are as individuals.

the ending screens are basically the same as the other choices except the people are now part synthetic, but nothing about their personality or behaviour is changed.

Yes, but every ending has their downsides. Synthesis has the greatest costs-benefits  "flux".
