I have never been much of a mutiplayer game player. I played a fair bit of NWN multiplayer but nothing other than that. I decided to give it a try a month ago or so because when I bought a new xbox they had free xbox live for a while.
Also this was pre extended cut and I wanted to get the galactic readiness necessary to get a certain ending. I was doing this with a certain amount of trepidation due to the mutli player culture and I couldn't imagine playing real time, no pause. (I am a serial pauser in the single player games.)
I did indeed suck to begin with and am still not a tremendous player but I've improved a ton, have tried out almost all classes and had a lot of fun. Not all games are 1st rate if you don't get good team mates but the majority of them are indeed fun and satisfying playing co-op.
In conclusion, anyone with the thought of trying it in the back of their mind but are worried about their ability to do so give it a try, it;s a lot of fun.

Edit: Multiplayer should NEVER have affected Single Player in any significant way. At most, MP should only have unlocked the odd weapon or armor set in SP.

Imagine if GoW3 only had horde mode, or Halo 3 let you play only territories.

No. In my opinion, multiplayer is a serious waste of resources better used for enhancing the single player experience.

This result was not unforseen and thus the contingency programming put in place to deal with it.
All sorts of people will have good valid reasons why they think mp is a bad idea and not want to play, good ness knows there has been about 1,001 threads on the subject.
This thread is just out there for the people who might be thinking....'I'd like to at least give it try, if not no other reason than to bash it with some credibility.'

Although I don't see myself picking MP again anytime soon, it wasn't actually that bad when I did play. But there is one outstanding problem - a lack of variety. Fighting the same enemies on the same maps and with the same objectives tends to get stale after a while.

I have nothing to compare it to MP wise as I have never played any of those more well known mp games. At this point the variery of maps and opponents and their biweekly challenges have held my interest.

I've never invested any serious time into multiplayer on my xbox. We all know what it is like having watched friends play CoD, GoW, etc. I didn't think I'd even bother with ME3's multiplayer when I purchased it.
I decided to give ME3 multiplayer a try. It is decent. Without it, I may never have played certain classes. I've probably also improved my aiming and what have you. The people you play with may not always be the greatest, but there are those that stand out.

I thought the same way, but keep in mind ME3's multiplayer was created by a different studio. I doubt that the inclusion of it had anything to do with whatever failings ME3's single player had.
100% agree that it shouldn't have affected single player the way that it did though.

It wasn't
Yes I tried all classes, even promoted a few. It was just more shooting stuff without a point to it (except to get the "best" ending in sp)

There are whiners calling for nerfs on the mp forums.Of a co-op game. CO-OP! I enjoy the occasional horde-mode, loved the pinnacle station of ME1, but i loathe the playerbase of multiplayer.
It's not as bad as I had heard, for sure there is an element that is not desireable but just in my brief experience there are enough good cooperative players to make it fun,

PS: I think there would have been a whole lot more complaining if they had tied weapon or armour unlocks in SP to MP. I know people were annoyed about not being able to see an extra few seconds of one ending but don't try to say you would prefer to have got the ending and missed out on weapons and armour.

I totally agree with this. I would also like to point out that EA already destroyed a great RPG company (Origin Systems) because of MP. I hope Bioware is not the next.
