Use shield penetration for starters. Experiment with lashing enemies at different angles and you will see how you can throw them to either side or throw them behind you in order to set them up for a smash.

I find that it's great for:
- pulling enemies out of cover
- flinging enemies out of the map (once you practice this a bit)
- staggering heavies
- keeping Phantoms off balance (and not shooting you)
- and of course setting off BE's

I mostly use it to detonate singularity. As a Vanguard, I will also lash an enemy and immediatley follow it up with a Smash. You HAVE to keep an eye on whatever you just lashed, otherwise it may kill you from behind, especially cloaked Phantoms.

Curve it to throw enemies off the map or into walls for extra damage.

Or treat it like skeet shooting

Lash is extremely fun to use. I like to see how long I can keep enemies in the air with it. Lash them and fling them up, then lash again to grab them while falling. I juggled a nemesis for about 3 or 4 lashes before it died.

Also skeet shooting, lash enemies into the air and let your teammates try to kill them before they land.

As a cerb vanguard, I only use lash during objectives, most of the time. It's fun, but let's say it's not the most effective way to play it. Smash is the way to go.

You generally shouldn't be lashing a target towards you unless you're trying to set up a Smash opportunity. Curve Lash so that it tosses enemies into the air or (preferably) off the map.

I wish it could detonate tech and biotics on any enemy type. :(

I mostly use lash on my cerb vanguard to throw (weakened) enemies into map terrain...[example: barricades] (it usually is able to instakill them, assuming their HP is low enough). Also throwing them off the map is hillarious, if done correctly.

I've specc'ed out of it on my vanguard. I miss it occasionally as a long range range attack.

On my adept, I find it useful on small maps to bring a phantom within smash range for a biotic explosion. Small maps limit the landing zone of the lashed enemy, funneling them closer to you.

I'm conscious of not ripping away my teammates targets, as I do not want to be considered a lashole.

Aim for the targets your infiltrators shoot.

I also find it quicker to use lash than heavy melee if an enemy is right in front of you

You can fit a heavy melee into the CD after lash if you're pulling them in to set up for smash.

Exactly.  This is good practice for enclosed maps like Glacier.

Lash is great for getting rid of husks and pulling baddies from cover. Handy on phantoms as well sh will stay cloaked but you can see her foot boosters making her a dead target for the whole squad. Guardians will hate you for stealing their shields which your teammates will be thankful for.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to use Lash effectively, and I also don't really understand what it's meant to do.  I must be missing something with this, because on the surface it doesn't seem like pulling an opponent behind your back is very useful.  It also doesn't help when most of the time I see people use it, they Lash an enemy and then forget about the enemy.  Usually the enemy still has health left and is now in a position to sneak attack.  So it seems to do more harm than good, at least in how I've seen it used thus far.

So, what is the point of Lash, and how does one use it effectively?

Here's a quick question/answer chart to help you decide when to use Lash.

1. Can you see an enemy? If so, go to 2. If not, go to 5.
2. Is the enemy susceptible to Lash? If so, go to 3. If not, go to 4.
3. Lash it.
4. Lash it anyway.
5. Lash a team mate to show them you mean business.

Lash is probably the most effective power for one-hit kills by simply Lashing them off the map. I believe that lash works like pull in that the angle at which the power hits the enemy determines which way the enemy floats. So if you've got evolution 6 shield/barrier penetration turned on and the bounds of the map are to the right of an enemy, aim slightly to the right, so that the power curves into the enemy and yanks them right out of the map.

I would think that anyone using Lash to hit an opponent dead on and pull them right back toward themselves or the team is a failure.

This is really fun only silver and bronze. On hydra, camp by the water fall and lash everything coming u[p the ramp and if they are on the cat walk curve it up to lash them into the waterfall. Agin, you can do this easily on other maps like goddess and dagger, but hydra is the most fun

How to teach CmnDwnWrkn to lash:

1. Buy a lash
2. Take off your pants
3. Decide the rear or the front part to be lashed
4. Agreement should be reached between the lasher and the lashee, failed on resolution, called your mom to decide
5. Lasher use the dominant hand and grab the lash. Swing a few times to get the desire force.
6. Lasher now aim at the rear/front target and just whoop it as hard as you can. (They said, if it's not red, it's not done)
7. CmnDwnWrkn say thank you for being taught how to lash

Case closed!

You need to use it on anything that moves, and you need to ignore the teammates that can't adapt.

That's how you use Lash.

I wouldn't have put it quite this way, but basically this. Its major use is as a detonator for other biotic powers (as well as Overload, Energy Drain, etc.), and to break up enemy formations. It can additionally be used to yank something into Smash range, as long as you're fast.

But it's also good for breaking up enemy formations (as long as you follow the kill-what-you-steal rule) and causing general chaos. Which can be downright fun.

Also use it to take guardians shields away.
