I'm trying to upload a portrait to use as an avatar.  I'm logged in online, creating a new character, but at no stage of the character creation process do I see an option to upload the character.  I do the appearance, stats, skills, etc, then it goes directly to "play."  This driving me crazy.  When and where in the character creation process does the option to upload the character appear?

Automatically. There is no manual upload option.

Yep. Actually play with that character, then make a save (not a quick save). That uploads the data to the server. Be aware, however, that due to some bugs and also massive use, it may take some time to appear on your profile page. Ignore the 'up to one hour', sometimes it takes hours or even a day or more.



Also note that some of us (it may happen to you) have more than one player profile (we didn't create more than one, it 'just happened'). There is a link to switch between them. In my case, the game uploads all data to one profile - but the site uses the other as default, so I have to switch every time - and I cannot use one of my characters as an avatar.

Unless you mean the stand alone character creator. If you use that, you can do something like 'upload' after saving it.

That must be it--someone was talking about the upload on the character creator. Thank you all. That was making me nuts.
