Awww yeahhh the ending is "nonsense alllll the way down."

Edit: Also Arisugawa's excellent post which rounds up all the nonsense on the citidel. http://social.biowar...5/index/9753933

P.S.  I consider this a b*tchslap to the EC, because while in this video MrBtongue gives credit to the extended cut DLC where it is due, he points out very clearly a few (of the many things) that the EC did not address. ( Things that still make no sense )

The extended cut is a DLC that is meant to add CLARITY and CONTEXT to things that were previously nonsensical, and if a major part of the ending is still nonsensical, then the DLC hasn't fully succeeded. This video ( starting around 2:41 ) begins to contrast with some of the other reviewers of the extended cut that have been content /satisfied / given it a thumbs up.

Oh and btw, this is TASTEFUL UNDERSTATED NERDRAGE afterall, so the bashing does occur in a tasteful and understated way.

Basically a major issue with the crucible, and how the crucible itself, its origin, and its functions being completely nonsensical.

That's kind of a big problem considering how central the crucible is to ME3.

Literally everything he listed about the crucible undermines the crucibles role in the ending, and it's such a major part of ME3.

I especially like how he points out the crucibles relation to the catalyst.

"So you are telling me that several different civilizations collaborated across hundreds of thousands, and possibly millions of years to design and build a machine whose purpose was to change something that they didn't know existed. Right."

Lol ^

Guys do you think future DLCs are going to explain who designed the plans for the crucible?

I don't think that's the part that matters most, I mean we already understand the Crucible was designed and adapted / improved on by countless cycles.

The big problem is that there is a connection between the Crucible and the Catalyst that nobody from those cycles could have known to make because none of them knew about the catalyst.

Because of the Catalyst's existence, the concept of the crucible is undermined, as instead of just being the super weapon that kills reapers ( that it was built up as throughout all of ME3 ), it becomes some catalyst altering, space magic shooting, BS device, that makes no sense at all.

That's an important point he brings up in the video, and its just another reason the catalyst needs to be removed / retconned / use to push the IT.

The sheep are going back to the flock thanks to being tricked by the EC, I'm sure all new DLC will be mid story and have no effect on anything at all.

Wootzor new guns and clothes, this will save the galaxy!

Thread title is misleading.

He didn't b*tchslap EC, he slapped the EC like a b*tch.

This was a disappointing video from him this time.
He said problems that were said since day 1.

The point of the EC was to add clarity and context to fix those problems, no?

Unlike Angryjoe and Jeremyjahns who gave the EC a thumbs up, this gives a clearer view on what the EC accomplished. The whole thing at 1:45 is what I am refering to.

That's kind of the point, EC didn't fix any of the problems with it.

Having to repeat the same complaints due to the EC not really fixing anything kind of shows that uh...the EC didn't really fix anything (at least not to people paying attention).

No it just means people who didn't like the ending parrot the same stuff like, gasp sheep. And for alot of people the EC did fix things and I'm pretty sure they were paying attention

Some of his complaints just came of as whiney. Like his complaint about the catalyst saying that "we wouldn't know them and there isn't time". If the crucible was designed multiple, multiple cycles ago, we wouldn't know of them. And maybe the catalyst didn't feel there was time for a 25 minute lecture about alien species that existed 500,000 years ago (assuming the crucible was designed only 10 cycles ago, which I'm sure it wasn't). It was designed by a prior cycle. Get over it.

The story makes plenty of sense.

Oh my god, what we shepard's grandparents named?  WE DON"T KNOW!!  PLOTHOLE! PLOTHOLE!

The crucible was designed by a different species, a long time ago.  We don't know who(though the catalyst does, because he was around then), and it's not plot-important.  Who designed the crucible has literally NO EFFECT on the plot.

Get over it.

It is because the point of the EC was to address those complaints, and while others are giving the EC a thumbs up, this guy grounds it.

While the EC fixes some things, it doesn't make sense of things like the crucible, which is kind of a big deal.

"This isn't some minor detail, this is the device that drives the entire plot of the third game, the device that gives the player a choice whose consequences outweigh those of all previous choices, and which represents the dramatic and thematic climax of a 100+ hour trilogy, and it makes no f---ing sense

Wasn't the extended cut supposed to add clarity and context to stuff that didn't make sense?
