Mordin is the best written character, imo. Flawless.

That's there because Shepard says "Good luck" to Legion earlier in the mission and Legion responds with "Acknowledged". Shepard saying "Acknowledged" in reponse to Legion's "Good luck" is supposed to show the bond that the two have formed. Similar to Shepard giving Tali a rock.

Liara: "I'm not telling you if my "hair tentacles" move!"
Ashley's scream after Steve dies sounds like she's having a really good time ....

In retrospect I almost wish he had been a squadmate since Mass Effect 1, though of course that would render the whole 'Council doesn't believe in Reapers' plot line pointless. But he is such a great character that I almost regret that he was limited to just that one game.
