there seems to be 5 spots on the ally summoner
on first play through one was empty
is there a fifth? if so then who?

Depending on your playtrough your allies might be: Golems, Werewolves, Dalish Elves, Dwarves, Mages, Redcliffe Soldiers or Templars

Yup. They're pretty cool, too, but you have to be somewhat of a barstid to get them.
