General non-serious observations:
- someone with an offensive name is likely a troll on comms
- "sniper" is likely a score-****
- kiddie-leek hacksaw, sorry 1337 H@cK$0r, speak names are likely fishing game lovers, and are either awful loners or good soloers, but expect no revives from them
- people with their real names and/or their birthday (when below 1980) are likely old age pensioner types, which are team players but poor reflexes
- foreign word names are europeans with awful lag, and randomly shout commands at you, which you obviously don't understand
- people called Dewart likely have emontional or anger management issues
- lastly you get names with no numeral mixups, and general or gaming words, who the the solid player base and dependable teammates ;-)

i love to be proven wrong, but sadly all too often true...

lol spoken like a true elitist. You sir or madam are obviously never ever wrong and you poop solid gold.

I'd like to think when people see my gamertag they know I've been around the block a few times in ME3's Mulitplayer and I wont let them down =)

Surely peaceloving Rastafarians don't play games like these?

Just not so sure if "potheads" make good squadmates

i am a proud pothead and i also have a cool name. I'm also a good team player and creator of the Legion Effect gamer group.

so names & habits mean nothing.

tho anyone playing drunk is a liability ;p

XxXSmOkEwEeD4LiFeXxX Some of you guys will know the reference I hope.

Anyways this has been true for the most part for myself. Not so much in this game but usually in L4D series. In this game usually players with no numbers in their name do well. As for terrible there are so many players that are that there is no way of telling through gamer tag alone.

I gravitate towards people with non-sequiturish names. They're more fun to say over the mic / complain about.

e.g. "TOASTER NOODLE", who I encountered tonight.

I randomly met a player named ZombiesAteHim. Despite flinching every time he revived me, I still thought he had the coolest name I've ever come across.

Does my GT tell anyone anything about me? It's just a made-up word that meant something when I was a kid (the name of a country I made up, actually).

Generally, any name that sounds anime-inspired or is trying to sound "bad-ass" is a red flag for me. I played with a guy named "Dark_Priest" the other day who died every round and quit on round 8 -______________-

In that context, you probably cared about what your name was and wasn't as immature about it as you could've been at that age.
Without that background knowledge, I'd say it's a completely neutral, albeit nonsensical name. Kind of what I was going for:)

I haven't noticed any hard and fast rules, although weakly, I find names that have some humour or humility to them correspond somewhat towards team-oriented play (ridiculous names like Panda Butter) , whereas names that try to sound really tough (some variant on 'Death Lord' or with 666 in the tag) are more likely to be me-first players. Still, it's a weak trend with limited predictive value, and I've played with some perfectly gracious and considerate Death Lords.

I will say that I somewhat dislike playing outside of Bronze with names I can't quickly pronounce for the simple reason that it impedes warning them. I tend to call out an ally's name when I see a Phantom or Hunter sneaking up behind them. When it's something like 'xX_0___O_Xx' I end up wasting a second trying to decipher it first before giving up and just calling out 'Phantom!' At that point, all three allies turn around wildly, and the enemies we were holding at bay get that much closer.

Well, you can certainly tell immaturity from users name, no big surprise it can come with not much thinking about the game.

The beauty of the XBL random name generator at work! I don't tend to have a problem with names like those since the players aren't trying to be "leet", ultracool or offensive. They're usually since straight to the point types.

Lots of people seem to read my name as 'several', not know what a serval is, or not know that adding "-O' to the end of it is clearly a ThunderCats reference. The latter is clearly the most unforgivable.

I have seen literally dozens of "LegitSnipers" all spelled in various ways and appearing in many different games. I really don't get the whole facination with sniper rifles, they aren't the only good guns in video games. I also don't get the lack of creativity in usernames, take mine for example, Varzin was the name of a character in a video game idea I had been working on that got scrapped. Completly original, I made it up myself. He was going to be an evil necromancer. Basically, I just thought it sounded like a  cool name for a necromancer.

Not sure, but the best players have xXXx in/before/after their names. Right?!
