The penetration bonus from AP ammo applies to only 1 of 2 equipped weapons, the one that you have in your hands at the start of the match. (at least on PC, don't know of consoles)

I've noticed that the AP icon doesn't even show up on the 2nd weapon.

I have the icon on both but not the effect on my second gun.

Looks like another untested fix.

Used to be that the ammo mod, when taking an SMG and a Pistol, would only apply to one weapon (a day 1 bug)...

Or, at least the icon on the weapon would only show up on one weapon. I don't know if any testing actually checked if the ammo mod worked on the weapon without the icon.

Looks like they fixed the icon but didn't fix/test the actual mod. Much like ULM that's still broken on SMG's (but may work if you take ULM on your pistol, too).

Suffice to say, BW's QA with regards to MP leave a lot to be desired.

I have this problem with almost all ammo mods, but the effect is still applied to the secound weapon. Not sure about AP ammo though usually have pierce mod on my weapons so dont use AP ammo much.

I ran some more test using my saber and Husk on gold to see if other ammo bonuses were affected. They were not.

[Experiment part. Boring information]
My saber, with extended barrel and scope took down a husk to 2 health bars.

My saber with warp ammo 3 took a husk down to 1 health bar.
My saber with Incendiary ammo 3 took a husk down to 1 health bar. (After burn damage)
My saber with AP ammo 2 took a husk down to 1 health bar. (Can penetrate objects)
My saber with cyro rounds took a husk down to 2 health bars. (Freezing effect applied)
My saber with disruptor ammo 4 took a husk down to 1 hp bar. (Shock effect applied)

I used the Acolyte X as the game considered it my saber the "back up" weapon and thus recognized as weapon number 2.

I can confirm that this bug exists. I was using the demolisher today with the paladin & piranha & was using ap lvl 3 ammo. While shooting with the paladin i was not able to pierce guardian shields & do any sort of damage but with the piranha i was able to.

Yeah, Bioware totally should've caught the bug that took 5 months for the community to find.

Seems simple, but I bet this has been in the game since release.  In March.  Five months ago.  

Yet not one of millions of players had documented and reported it.

Hindsight is always 20:20 - and now this is known, my guess is it'll be a fairly minor fix (probably requiring a patch).

Yes, it exist on the xbox as well. My test were done on the Xbox. The original poster did his on the PC.

My first exposure of the bug was back when the rebellion dlc was released. At first I thought it was because my AP ammo was only at level 1 and it lacked punch. Recently, I used AP 4 and I know that can penetrate but was unable to do so.

I noticed for a while that at times only 1 weapon was displaying the colour effect in MP of the ammo type (namely pistols and snipers missing this) . I thought it was something graphical only however, such as issues when used with a scope, rather than the weapon not behaving like it should.

This explains a weird post the other day of a guy claiming that AP Ammo didn't work on the Destroyer. He probably had 2 guns equipped. He couldn't provide much useful info though.

Interesting, because I have NEVER had this problem? If I run the Sabre and Hurricane on my HS, Sabre 1 and Hurricane 3, the AP ammo affects both perfectly fine...

Is this a case to case thing, or what?

Yes, it only affects Ap ammo in regards of there penetration. AP ammo still gets the bonus damage but it cannot penetrate.

Yes. In your case, your Hurricane 3, being the higher level, would be considered your "main" weapon and have the ap penetration. Your saber, however, will not get the penetration. Both weapons will still get a damage boost but your hurricane will be the only gun that would penetrate in that match.

If you want flaming snake, try using your level 1 saber and level 2 paladin with none of them having an AP mod. User any AP ammo level you want and try to shoot through cover. I used the balcony on dagger to test for penetration. you can use the glass on glacier to speed things up.

When you enter the match with that combination (paladin and saber), your paladin should be the first weapon in your hands. It should also be the only one capable of shooting through cover. Your saber, on the other hand, will not shoot through cover.

Yikes, this is a very bad, bad bug for anyone who frequents the highest difficulties. Does this affect Warp and Cyro ammo as well? Particularly, their armor reducing effects?

Does it affect the armor reduction (weakening) effect? That's perhaps the biggest selling point of some of these ammos.
