So, i am doing a playthrough where I romanced Ash in ME1, Tali in ME2 and now rekindled with Tali in ME3.  I took Ash on the Geth dreadnought mission and Tali says "good to see you" and Ash says "are you sure about that?"

Tali just responds "should I be?" or something like that and Ash basically says "No, nevermind, good to see you again"

I thought they were supposed to have some banter where Tali says "Good to see you supported Shep this time"??

Did I miss something?

Yes, you need to wait to call Tali up into your cabin until after the Dreadnought mission.

Interesting...so what does that change? I guess rekindling the relationship with her in the cabin beforehand defuses Ash?

Thanks for the answer, though!

Yeah, I guess Ash finds out you chose Tali over her when you call her up, so Ash tries to act nice on the Dreadnought; but if you wait to call Tali up, Ash still thinks she has a shot at Shep...

On a side note, I love how Tali burns Ash in that dialogue if you hold on calling Tali up... lol

Yeah, saw it on youtube. I like Ash but it is the absolute best smackdown in the entire game. I think everyone who romanced her in ME1 and played ME2 was thinking the same thing.

Ash was really the instigator in that scene; and I found it weird she said earlier that Tali was like a little sister to her, and then says crap like that...

I don't hate Ash like a lot of people around here, but she totally got what was coming when she said that about Tali.

Yeah she got what was coming to her. I don't know why she thinks she has a shot with Shepard after whining at him for the last 10 hours of the game.

That said I do like ME1 Ash.

I don't have brothers and sisters, but from what I've seen, siblings throw crap like that all the time. I think it actually works, her being jealous of losing her old flame to someone she felt like was a sister. For me, it works. Shes just a tad upset when it comes to that particular scene, which is rather normal if you think about it.

I love Ashley, but I did love the burn :D
Ash you walked right into that.

Ash said "I'm totally fine with it Shepard, Tali is like a little sister to me." And then Later... "Oh and congrats on getting your big girl name..."

And I have siblings, 2 brothers and 1 sister; saying something that degrades someone is not the typical sibling love. Siblings joke around and stuff, but Ash was not joking when she said that. And if Tali really was like a little sis, Ash should have shown a lot more respect.

I'm not saying sisters don't fight, but when you claim someone is just like a sister, then insult them a couple days later; its just not very sincere.

The exchange can be reversed too if you break it off with Tali and reconcile with Ashley. Either way, its pretty funny.

I think the "totally fine with it" bit was pure bravado, along the same lines as her "do what you want" response to the Liara stand-off in ME1.

Tali being like a sister probably makes it worse since it means somebody you liked (and assumed liked and respected you back) just stabbed you in the back by stealing your boyfriend. And we all know how well Ashley handles situations that call for a bit of emotional maturity.

I'm sorry, but the moment Ash sassed Tali was the moment I wanted to kick her off that dreadnought. Painfully. Ash openly dumped you on Horizon, you had every right to move on. She just can't get over the fact that you dumped her for an alien.

Look at how Liara handles you getting with someone else in 2 and then compare it to how Ash does - Liara's a saint.

Good to know about how to trigger the different scenes, as I'm also working on an Ash ME1/Tali ME2 game for import.

It depends on how much reputation you have with Ashley. More rep with Ash and she will drop it quickly, less rep with Ash and she and Tali will get in a bit of a verbal fight

She is kind of jelous of Tali and mad at Shepard at she takes it out on Tali. Nothing really unusual in her reaction my opinion.

I have a save point immediately after getting Tali in-squad, and with the intention of immediately hitting the Dreadnought. The differing scenes in my case were simply based on whether or not I invited Tali up to reconnect first.

If I did, I get the more measured exchange. If I didn't, I get the snarky rivals back-and-forth scene then.

How that conversation goes depends on how friendly you were with Ashley before the mission.

You get the angsty-ness if your reputation with Ash was bad, and a much friendlier conversation if your reputation was good

As I was careful to qualifiy "in my case" I can at will switch between the two states based on that one choice. Perhaps my rep with Ash was mixed down the middle.

For the curious as to how that came about: I can remember choosing the bottom responses when she bugged me about Cerberus on Mars but top responses elsewhere with one other exception (when Ash said "I approve" regarding Tali, I chose the bottom response there too).  And in the Citadel showdown I had the blue Paragon selection available
