I'm playing ME1, I know this is the ME3 forum but no one is there.  Anyway, after playing quite a bit I have discovered what I absolutely DESPISE the most about this game.  NOT then ending (yet anyway, haven't gotten there yet) but I LOATHE the STUPID PC mini-game with the spinning blocks where you have to unlock just about everything.  I mean does he have to play the darned mini-game to use the BATHROOM!?!?!?  ARGH!!

I know I can turn things into omni-gel and I do after getting frustrated enough with reloading but I HATE this!!!!!  :pinched:

I didn't mind the minigame, infact eventually I got so good that I flew through them practically the moment they popped up. It eventually just becomes second nature.

Or you can just use omni gel. Though I really did unless I ****ed up.

Oh great, it gets worse in ME2?  I already have all three games and I sometimes get so frustrated I'm ready to toss them in the trash.  Is there a mod or a cheat to disable them?  All games with mini-games stink BIG time.  Like Skyrim with IT'S stupid lockpicking.  ARGH!!!

I can't get over how bad ME1's controls and mechanics are. <_<

I actually prefer the ME2 mini games over the ones in ME1. ME1 I was playing Frogger to unlock a chest. ME2 it "felt" like I was actually hacking a data pad. But I can appreciate them getting annoying over time.

I don't really notice them anymore. They were really frustrating the first time I did them, but I just got used to it. Same with ME2 ones. In honesty, I actually found the lack of mini games in ME3 kind of odd, in a distracting way, every time I "unlocked" something.

Agree with this ^ guy, though I can't remember the minigame in ME1. ME2 mini-games weren't that bad, and, though I don't really miss them, it does feel odd having zero minigames to unlock/hack in ME3 =]

If there is one thing I don't miss is the decryption stuff, and ME1 is actually better at this than ME2, because in ME1 you can just use Omni Gel to open stuff. In ME2 you have to do those boring mini games. I have yet to play a game where lockpicking and all that is fun, though hacking in Bioshock was not all that bad. But mostly it is just boring.

Well, at least I'm not alone in how I feel about the repetive and frustrating mini games. They're a complete and total distraction from the game. I could see once but EVERY time? Gimme a break.

ME1 minigame was annoying. I probably would have gone nuts if it were not for omnigel. ME2's minigames were more tolerable.

Thanks, and yup, I DESPISE them.  I mean I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, LOATHE, HATE, CAN'T STAND them.  If I knew it had mini games I would never have bought the three games, THAT'S how much I hate games with mini-games.  It's the stupidist idea EVER.  And a lot of games are doing this now.  Skyrim, Risen 2, and others.

I agree, the ME1 mini-game was a little annoying. For me, it was because it was the same game for everything. Picking a lock? Frogger. Hacking a computer? Frogger. Getting a soda? Frogger. I liked ME2 much better because with 2 mini-games there was variety and they felt like they matched up better with the task at hand. The code hacking mini-game is a little dull because it's solely about being patient, but the circuit one is good. At least, it is until you've unknowingly memorized the underlying circuit pattern and can beat the mini-game without even looking at the nodes, then it just gets boring.  And then ME3 cut mini-games altogether, and now it's just disappointing.

The mini-game is quite easy I thought. Just move to the biggest space and move when it is clear.

If you find it hard you could always use the PC console to give yourself all the Omni-Gel you need.

In the entirety of my playtime of ME1, you can count the times i've failed the minigame with your fingers. All you need to do is to see the opening and take it.It's repetetive but thats what the omnigel is for.I preferred the ME2 style minigames that actually seemed to match the task at hand.
But honestly, if 5-second brain teaser causes this much anger maybe you should stop playing and just take a breath of fresh air?

Lol the xbox variant was essentially just a simon says sequence of four colours, so I guess they wanted to make it more challenging.

Tbh I found the PC variant easy too. Usually all you have to do is spin your cursor to the opposite side of the disk and then wait at most a second for all the lines to open up for a straight path into the core. It doesn't really require any maneuvering at all and if you spend more than 3 seconds on one of these you're doing it wrong.

The ME2 minigames are easy aswell. Connecting the circuits, well... I can dream that circuitboard in my sleep now so just from where the nodes are positioned I can already tell how I'm supposed to connect them. The hacking one is more boring because sometimes you have to wait for lines of code to scroll by before the segment you need actually comes along.

ME3 has no mini-games, but then "not having" seems to be the name of the game there. ME3 has no minigames, no real sidequests, no galaxy exploration, no player agency, no middle options in dialogue wheels, not enough dialogue wheels, no choice in when to do which mission, nothing of that.

So yay.

Just wait until you get a maxed out inventory, the pain of having to omnigel everything ALL THE DAMN TIME will set in shortly after.
