He's a good character, but has almost zero depth and character development over the trilogy.

He's the only character that shows real growth. In ME he was a bitter ex-C Sec officer, who wanted revenge, very renegade kind of opinions. He grows and becoming a better character through Shepard's help. He becomes a better person and proves to be a very loyal friend. He is funny and great to talk to. It's hard to say more than that really.

What´s not to like about Garrus? He's just awesome. He is funny, badass, always got Shepard's back, and when you romance him he is suddenly endearingly awkward and clumsy but still a real sweetheart.

Also: calibrations.

He had character development from ME1 to ME2. In ME3, not so much.

I point blank did not like Garrus in ME1. I felt he was nothing more then a thug with a problem with autority. I never took him anywhere and talking to him was a chore

In ME2 I felt they did well with his character and he slowly grew on me. It was like he was given an injection of charisma.

By the end of ME3 he did fall into that "Brother from a different mother" category. I even let him win the bottle shooting contest most of the time

I agree 100% with this post.  I hated Garrus in ME1.

I've never played ME1, because I'm on the PS3, and compared to all the other characters in ME2, Garrus didn't seem that great. He didn't have depth like the other characters because he was originally in ME1 I think. So I didn't get to know him like I did the others, like Samara and Jack. So I really don't care for him that much either.

Yeah, that may be the problem for some. Garrus's bro status was established in me1, where he had tons of dialog. So I guess during the development of ME2 BW thought that the majority of the audience was already familiar with Garrus, so they decided to spend their resources on new characters.

Not sure if this has been mentioned (Im not going to dig through all the pages and look) but I am fairly sure that salarian was voiced by Brandon Keener, ala Garrus.

Indeed, I am.  I taught Nihilus everything I know, such as rushing head long into a dangerous situation without support that was readily given.  Oh, and Nihilus was a racist too.  There I said it.

PS - I didn't teach Nihilus that last part...
