I think I heard BioWare mention that Garrus was intentionally made to fit the Shepard's best friend role. And he does fit that role very well.

Garrus always has your back. One of the facts are if he went to the Citadel with you he would prevented you from killing your self by finding the Reaper off switch under the elevator that took you to the catalyst.

So that isnt the full reason why garrus is your bro not those 2 (although prob not tali since she's y'know, female.

Wrex couldn't hold a philosophical discussion if it was lighter than a salarian anorexic. And no, I don't trust him fully.

In short he was just an extremely likeable guy for the vast majority of players, he was with Shep throughout it all (following the whole Saren evidence search at least) and he would always side with Shep throughout his or her decisions. Few Bro's go through that level of dedication he does. To the point where even Shepard him/herself says "There's no Shepard without Vakarian".

What, did they kill him and make a clone, too? There is reason for Kaiden/Ashley to either trust Shepard or not at that moment. They chose not to while Garrus and Tali did. That doesn't make Kaiden/Ashley bad people; it makes Tali and Garrus better judges of character.

I don't know, they sure trust easily. Shepard came back from the death and is now working with terrorists. This is an age from where control chips exist and people can copy a face, that doesn't help Shep case either.... I think their mistrust is well placed.

I think all those are alright. Not fantastic to me, but certainly not deserving of universal hatred they are sometimes accustomed to. Actually I really like Ash in ME1, not as much on from then but still alright. I havn't done a playthrough with Kaidan alive in ME3 yet. The only squadmember I hate is Morinth.

And to skillfully relate this to the topic: Garrus always felt very consistent as a character to me. He was Garrus throughout all 3 games.

Kaidan changes dramatically from ME1 to ME3 (I think he seems high all the time during ME3).

Jacob also seems like he's on drugs in ME3. Especially when you talk to him at Huerta Memorial Hospital ("You feel it Shepard? You feel it?")

And James is only in ME3.

I'll correct myself. Jacob in ME3 has a drug problem which is why his character changes completely and his dialogue is nonsensical.

Was it just me who found Jacob cheating on femshep hilarious? Lol Femshep is so creepy in the dialogue.
