dunno, but if you've basic knowledge in modeling you won't need one. i noticed in your posts that you're adapting custom models to your needs so i would say that you already got the skills. a lod model is, simply put, your detailed model with fewer polygons which will be blended in if your in-game camera reaches a defined distance from the object. this is where the city hak fails. there are no lod models so the engine hast to render thousands of polygons every frame, even from far away if the view distance of your area won't clip them.

in almost every case a model in nwn2 is a multipart model made of different meshes. collision meshes, main model mesh and two lod level named after your main model mesh but with the suffix _L01 and _L02. if your model is a static one like a house you could use automatic processes (like pro optimizer within max) to create your lod levels. edge loops of a static model ain't that important so it could work. an animated low poly creatures need special edge loops which no process gets right, in this case you have to create them manually. simply removing edges, placing tris and so forth will do the job. personally i prefer to create them manually all the time.

you can also read further explanation here.

I have had to rebuild three areas from scratch so progress slowed considerably. I am testing again now and will be finished the playthrough this weekend I hope. Then it's the final fixes and we will see where we go from there.

This is an underground area for Last Days of the Raven. I have kept the old branding with the celtic bird for this one because that thing took me hours in paint and I wanted to wheel it out one last time.

This is the old trade road between Leilon and Neverwinter. It has fallen into disuse since the new road was built eighty years ago, and many of the buildings assciated with it lie in ruins along it path. The adventurers here are about to visit one such ruin.

You have got to love this toolset Image IPB

Looking good.., I actually was hunting around for modules to play as I have to make another city now and needed to recharge before starting it but I decided to wait for this one instead and plod on with what I was doing.

As for the toolset the one thing I think it needs is a "brain plugin" so you could create things as fast as you think them.. But I think that's the impending city creation and its need for peasants, merchants and another tavern talking !

Well if playtesting is anything to go by, this should fill a good thirty hours

Just some balance issues in the last mod to sort out.

Right now it's all too easy and that is difficult. I know it all too well, if I balance it hard for me then others may struggle.

Don't worry about me and balance I know how to cheat, first thing I do with any mod is put in a respawn if it hasn't got one then if the going gets tough console in some goodies. Only one I ever quit on was Fanglewood as that was just too much for me..

Yeah, Fanglewood has its hard spots thats for sure :)

I am testing the last but one module now. Its complete I am realy only polishing and setting uip a save gave to check balance on the last module.

Just for interest I have played with the up and down stairs on two tile sets to give the effect below.

Tis but a small thing but it creates interest in an area.

Thanks, Quite early on I got an interior set or two off the vault then made one that I liked based on what I saw.

I don't have shadows on for the most part so the shadows you see are created with the dirt floor VFX. They make a huge difference to an area indoor and out.

I have recently played with resizing some of these and changing the colour. There is a lot you can do with the vfx but I am saving that for my next project.

Exploring some ruins,

Note the magic user seems to be taking a rest again. That happens quite a lot Image IPB

The De-Brecht family tomb is one of my favorite interiors of the whole module series. It is simple and small but I enjoyed making it.

Unless you go looking for it it is also devoid of any encounters but contains some of my favorite epitaph type poems (is it okay to have a favorite epitaph poem?).

Imageshack resizes those pics so much the text is almost illegible, but I recognise the poem anyway. It's a good one. I have some favourite epitaphs of my own, so I'd say it's okay to have them. :)

heh, I just googled that.

I have long since decided that my headstone shall simply say my name and under that:

"Best before"

and the date I finally park myself.

Beregost in the last moments of module 6, one more to go now with just a few typos and balance issues to deal with in this one.

This is likely to be the last screen unless something nice comes to me in the next run through. The combat was too tough in the last one so just one tweak :)

That looks ominous.

Good luck with the final push! I've been reading through the more recnt posts to get caught up. A thirty hour campaign, sounds like something AAA developers would be envious of these days.

Done and done ...

It is on the IGNvault and the neverwintervault and it will be on Nexus at some point this weekend.

Phew, time to take a beak from the tool set I think.

*two minutes passes*

Right, that's done back to the tools.

Footnote: Heh, it sounds like someone has a small motorbike parked in my front garden this morning. Turns out that's my hard drive ... Might be time for a new one.

Congratulations I'll download the Nexus version later so I can endorse it... That is of course depending if it's up to standards or notImage IPB.

It's the top of my list to play but I've got to finish what I'm doing with my mod first ( city that I wrote myself into ) as it;'s taking too long and otherwise I'll never complete it. But as soon as it's done I'll clear out my override and start throwing stones at sheep ( I hope you provide slings for the far away ones) !
