This is going to make me sound like a bit of a douche, but if there's someone on the mic and his voice hasn't broken yet, I usually roll my eyes.
That said, I've always disliked children, even when I was one myself.
I know your pain, damn knee-nibblers. Oh how I loved playing the speedbumper in school, just stretching your legs a little when the kiddos came running and *whooosh* see them flying
Good times. Now, don't get me wrong, children can be cute and all that. I just haven't met those yet.

41 year old Pong and Atari 2600 baby here. I programmed my own games in assembly language on my Apple IIe. Poke THAT! (and Peek of course LOL).
Ha ha, you just described me to a T
Didn't have the 2600 though, it was a Colecovision instead.

Not exactly surprised about these forums having a significant older player base, but am glad to have it confirmed. People like to complain about these forums and they have been bad at times, but I've been to a couple far worse forums before.
You honestly get about a 90% literacy rate for posts here.

I made boot floppies for Wolfenstein 3D, then for Doom. RAM was $100 a MB.
Downloaded games from BBSs over a 14,400 modem.
I woo'd my then-girlfriend (now wife) with the stunning graphics of Tie Fighter on my Pentium 90.
Bought an overclocked Cyrix "200+" mostly to run Dark Forces.
Hated the HPBs and LPBs rocket jumping and spawn camping in Quake 3.

I have fond memories of the Atari 2600, Apple IIe, Sega Master System and so on. Good times. They really don't make games like they used to

Working a mindless annoying job tends to put things into perspective.
